Edited by: Sarmea Moon on 28/11/2009 12:30:30 We still have a ton of bookmarks, just not the WTZ ones. I ran alot of low sec lvl 1 NPC courier missions when I first started, without bookmarks. Even getting blown up 1 in 3 missions, I made money (it also made me giggle, but that's another story). Enough money that I bought region wide bookmarks.
I have sniper points for several 0.0 regions, at gates, plus safe spots, plus belt points. *checks belts for hostiles in a frigate* - 200km above or below. By the time they can jump you, you're gone and have informed the FC of the hostile's locations. They also double nicely for mining points.
Honestly, is there anyone over a year old, whose lived in 0.0 space, that DOESN'T have at least 1k bookmarks?
English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, coshes 'em, and rummages in their pockets for loose bits of grammar. |

It had it's advantages in making compbat easier to get and giving a home field advantage.
However I'm not sure if it was worth all the time flying around making bookmarks, organizing bookmarks, copying bookmarks etc. Addin massive amounts of lag and the time it adds to just flying around and it really wasn't worth it.
Some people think the extra fights and home field advantage was worth it all.... or their whining cause they can't kill people and want noobs without insta bookmarks to gank. ------------------------------

Wtz whines come from people that remember cap rechargers 2 being worth 80mill that could make a better than level 4 empire dwelling mission runner income from people that still hadn't worked what out low sec was all about and I believe, before you got a warning pop up before you jumped in.
Anyone in 0.0 just anchors pull bubbles between gates to make people appear 70km from the gate. They may still fail to kill a ship that far from the gate (incompetance, luck, cloaky recons, larger fleet etc etc etc) so these people rarely moan about it as they Are more than aware just dropping someone 15 from a gate will not make for a free kills.
The lag regions suffered as AFK players copied 1000s of bookmarks is NOT worth the very s all benefit to gained by those with them over those without. Being without book marks also stalled people moving out of empire as no one with half a brain flies unprepared through 0.0. Well I suppose some do. They have little to worry about on the fringes as roaming gangs rarely want to do 80 jumps into dead end pipes.
Ah, there is always more to it on both sides of the fence. Personally I kinda enjoyed reading in local how laggy j-civ was while I made a 3rd copy of some bookmarks for Corp mates

Originally by: Wet Ferret Travel time is still very significant. Just less so than before. My trips to Jita are still a "big deal" because it's 42 jumps away and takes a long time to get back and forth. Got a couple hours to play? Sweet, half that time gets to be clicking "warp to" and waiting for my ship to reach the next gate . Main difference being I can take a big ship instead of being stuck with a small one that can reach the gates in a few seconds (in case I didn't have the BMs, which I would).
But come on, one of the least interesting things in EVE is traveling. The less of it we have to do the better, IMO (up to a point, anyway).
Yes but I'd argue that's a symptom of fast travel as it removes alot of localisation in the market since it's simpler for everyone to just go to the same small handful of hubs - there just isn't the incentive/demand for smaller ones to grow that may be closer to where you operate.
I agree travel time can be dull, that's why I referred to players having to plan their logistics out to cut down on travel times. Warp to zero addresses the issue by making it easier for the players instead of leaving it as a challenge for the players to resolve themselves - good for the individual bad for the game.

Honestly? Because it ruined killboard stats and easy kills. Because gatecamping, believe it or not, was even easier without WTZ. Anything that makes lazy gatecamping pirates work for their kills is "bad for the game".
