there's 2 reload times - 1 second for laser crystals and 10 for almost everything else.
In the name of 'realism' I'd like to see more variation in reload times for different weapon and ammo types. And.... a skill, a cheap level 1 skill that gives 10% faster reload per level.

I think they already said that it's not going to happen unless they can give lasers some sort of compensation skill.

Faster reload times are a boost to DPS to all guns and launchers with the exception of Lasers.

1) And also eat alot of cap. 2) Cannot vary damage types, other then EM/Thermal, and 50km with short range guns, means mostly EM damage, from which everybody, even Caldary are quite well protected. 3) Making them short-range would make them blasters. -RSF- |

another t*rd picking a single part of the inter-racial balance to whine about.
btw. Amarr dont have close range guns, only mid and long range. For short range see blasters and autocannons.

did you even read the whole thread??
This change would boost the DPS of all non-laser weapons ingame. Do you know any reason why these need such a boost???
If you like insta ammo change you should have better chosen Amarr for your character instead of moaning about it, shouldn't you? But I rather think you simply want advantages of all races for yours one and moan for that...

So this would only be a DPS boost in really long fights when you actually have to reload from running out of ammo in your guns and really I don't remember the last time I needed to do that. Even when I start running out of ammo I usually reload midway through a clip while I'm, say, getting into range of the next target.
What it would actually do is make ships more flexible by letting them change ammo for different ranges (or damage types, for missiles/projectiles) faster although I'm not sure I like that, since one of the ways you can get reduced damage against say a drake is getting out into javelin range and then when he switches ammo, go closer again, and give him the option of wasting ANOTHER 10 seconds to reload to high-damage ammo. Not sure if you can pull that trick against ACs/blasters though since if you're getting shot by their long range ammo you're in their falloff probably, so going closer again just makes you take more damage anyway.
I guess with fights getting shorter the reload times have to drop for ammo switching for the benefits of changing ammo to still be worthwhile, but that would contribute to even shorter fights and I don't know if that's a good thing. ________________

It would also help if guns and bays were able to count how much ammo they have used.
It sucks that cruise missiles take nearly 20 seconds to reload when you let them run out on there own. Your cycle time to determine you are empty + 10 seconds. Only way to reload faster is to stop yourself with one left and reload.

Lasers, lasers, oh our poor lasers, maybe some boost for them? Hybrids have two dmg types too, and still dont reload instantly, how about that? /signed

should every race begin moaning about disadvantages they have?? If you took caldari, gallente or minmatar, stick with reloading times, you had the choice.

All the races are balanced. Everyone can cross-train to Amarr.
