Edited by: Ximen on 29/11/2009 18:06:31 .. to be honest I'm not even sure why I'm bothering, but I guess the guy behind the jukebox code isn't the same guy bending 0.0 over a barrel, so I'll help him out a bit.
Right clicking the jukebox in game and setting the path as C:\ caused my client to reduce to 1fps (no mp3s at all except the eve install folder). It never recovered.
Setting it to my mp3 directory, sorted by album per folder, causes my client to entirely freeze. This has a few thousand songs in it
Hdd isn't being thrashed when this happens, and machine is otherwise responsive. CPU usage is about at normal levels for an eve client (10% or so on an I7 860)
No bug report yet, because I want to see if it affects other people too. If you want to try it, make sure you put a trailing \ on the path. eg> c:\test\ if that folder contains the music you wanna play.
Post your findings here I guess, for what good it will do.
Also when it was posted that we'd get new mp3 versions of the tunes.. i was expecting some orchestral versions like from fanfest.. not the same quality stuff from before simply in mp3 format. Thats not a complaint on the music, but i wanted john william scale epic music ;)

I would still bug report it as it might be a problem that only effects a small number of hardware combinations so waiting for others to report the same thing might not be the best way to get it fixed.

It can indeed take quite a while to parse huge amounts of files. I do already have a fair few ideas on how to improve the performance of it, but it probably won't make it into the release. Also, it is not good idea to add your root path since adding a path for playlist always walks through all subdirectories it finds... so, for the windows folder alone that is going to take ages ;-)
Can you please report this as a defect and attach a) a dxdiag.txt and b) the exact number and total size of the files in your music folder? Thanks
