Will this remove only the chat that was posted previous to the use of this command, or also prevent further chat for a designated length of time? Space is fun! |

I hope not.
In my experiance once a spammer is reported they are gone within 10 minutes most times.
I have never blocked an isk spammer in my 2 plus years of playing and I have reported every spammer that I have encountered. This has totalled easily over 200 petitions, all just to check how fast the petitions are responded to and the spamming stops. I have to say that CCP is acutally extremely diligent in controlling spam. My hypothesis is that players get tired of the horrible reporting process and stop reporting and just block and think that the issue is never truely handled.
EDIT2: Horrible spelling, grammer, etc.

Grieving potential is high for this.
Of course, I expect anyone who abuses this feature will be smacked with the Lesser Banhammer.

I don't know if there is also a hidden feature that a certain number of reports block the spammer entirely. If so I just hope players do not use the system to grief and if they do they get banned fast for doing that. I suspect CCP will monitor it closely to see how that goes.

I am hoping that there will be a confirmation popup for it because I can see someone accidentally clicking it when they mean to show info or w/e. Please re-size your signature to the maximum file size of 24000 bytes. Zymurgist |

I just wish there was some way to easily clear out my block list. It's currently filled with way too many spammers to empty manually, name-by-name, and it's so long that takes a minute or two to load up.

Yeah, i was thinking that as well. I hope it DOES block their chat, hope it isnt abused. This would probably help flush them pretty fast. Space is fun! |

I have concerns about this actually too. I already heard from some ppl on public chats, that they will use the feature for people who post chats with multiple lines. For me this is an abuse. People just don't seem to realise that it isn't for "Spam" (or what they think it is), but for ISK-Sellers. I think much ppl will use it to try to get rid of persons they don't like. So I really suggest a Warning like "This feature is intented to report ISK-Sellers only, abuse will lead to a warning" or something like this. Maybe ppl abusing it could loose their right to use it. Anything like that... regards --------------------------------------- Sometimes it pays to stay in bed in Monday, rather than spending the rest of the week debugging Monday's code. ~Dan Salomon |

Probably not very easily. I don't make a habit of repeating what people ask me in game, pretty sure most players dont.... ---------------------- They're angry there was damage done to their ship. It's not difficult! |

Just tested it:

Just to put some minds at ease.
There should be a confirmation window which also states very clearly the results of any abuse through the system. This window can not be disabled.

Edited by: Spc One on 01/12/2009 20:21:48 This is a nice function to remove ISK Spammers. But what if a user abuses this and reports a normal player that isn't isk spammer ? What happens then ?
I think alot of users will abuse this feature. And if someone will really abuse it .. how does the other player prove that he really isn't an isk seller ?.

I will be the first to volunteer my services to manning the spam queue to free up GM time for more important things, i would also petition a PHP programmer to make an ISK seller killboard with which i could post each ISK seller owned, i would offer this service free of charge to CCP and i doubt i would be the only one willing to banstick the spammers :) Rally Against Evil Site |

I would suspect either extracts from the channel go with the report, or similar tools which allows the folks in charge to deduct whether it is a genuine report or an abuser at a glance.

We have eyes everywhere.
We did worry quite a bit about potential abuse so you can rest assured that this has been taken into consideration. You should not have to worry about random players reporting you out of spite. I anticipate a problem where certain people create trial accounts to report other people they don't like thus avoiding any repercussions.
Just to nip this in the bud you could program the feature to be available only if you have a paid subscription. ------------------------------------------
