Edited by: Denise Bloch on 02/12/2009 07:40:38 First of all, good job on a successful patch deployment CCP. I haven't found any bugs yet, so here are my comments.
- Fleet finder... What this guy said...
Originally by: "De'Vadder" The fleetfinder was intended to allow noobs and/or missionrunners to just look for any fleet around that did missions on the appropriate lvl and was open to join to get instant team fun, like any other MMO has, but that seems to be impossible now thanks to the min standing requirement of 0.1
That made me sad, i hoped to just be able to join some stranger on their missions, was there no other way os reducing server load / make fleet scamming harder (whatever let to this decission)
I mean getting newer players in touch with each other would be awesome, does it at least work for NPC corps? And why is there still nothing that sets content apart from signature? Is that intentional or technically imposible?
I quote the entire thing because he sums up my feelings the best. I'm a mission runner and it gets boring out there. I was really looking forward to putting up a fleet finder advert and letting random people come join me if they want, meeting new folks, getting to chat to pass some time, seemed really interesting.
But alas, I can't, min standings of .10 :( I'm sure someone will find this tool handy, but as long as the standing thing stays then it's just going to collect dust for me, and I was really looking forward to it.
- Browser seems to lag just a little when doing things. Not sure why or if it's my system, just seems slower than what I am used to. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that it was finally upgraded, but there is polishing left to do. At least I can link guides real quick without noobs saying the page isn't loading (doh, forgot to tell them to take it out of game)
- CTRL-F (or something) in browser. Another wish list polishing issue. It's a lot easier on places like eve-survival to hit ctrl-f to bring up find, and then type the name of the mission than to scroll for it. (in firefox, I know that's not what the game uses, but I work with what I know).
- Spell check for typing stuff in browser (like into the forums) doesn't work. Hey, I'm lazy and I've learned to love it, so I can hope CCP will add it.
- New skybox's, I love um, it's the little details that make some things nice. Planets look good too, but meh, I don't warp to them a lot, so it's not as noticeable to me.
Haven't gotten to ban my first ISK seller yet, but I hear they learned how to use "/me emote selling isk" real quick so you can't right click the name, that issue needs to be addressed but I think your already aware of it. I'll post more as I find stuff to comment on. Again, congrats on a smooth patch.
Edit for formatting and spelling.

Patching went more smoothly than it has ever gone for me.....and fast?!
Anyway, so far, no issues encountered. I might fire up an alt and try the new player experience today.
Congratulations, I hope the changes to sovereignty are everything you envisaged. -----

For some reason, despite it clearly being more dense, it actually looks like a lower resolution. The stars are too blurred in places - looking like a low res texture rather than countless pin points of lights, and so it seems to have lost the impression of 'depth'. It now -looks- like a sky box, rather than a convincing starfield.
Maybe I need to adjust the contrast and brightness on my screen, but it looked fine before.

You can zoom into the starfield by clicking the right mouse button and moving the view slightly, and the clicking the left mouse button at the same time, and moving the mouse up or down.

Whilst I've not really played any of the new content, managed to get online last night about an hour and half before the patch was due to be released and got online (now installing at work) the connection speeds I was getting were pretty much max - 1mb/s download which for patch day i thought was fairly awsome. Love the new interfaces etc, just wanna explore the new content now.
On a side note I am a dread pilot and these seem to be mildly pointless now, but nevermind! Well done CCP pat yourselves on the back cos from what i can tell you've done good!

I agree. While the idea of the new starfield is awesome, it could be more "alive". The old stars were just fine, but there were too few of them and all the same size/color! Also.. it could be really nice in the future to have higher res background nebulas, because some of them at 1920x1080 res look really stretched/ugly.
Planets look really nice now and I like the square UI, good job ccp!

Fast and easy download, lovely new planets and moons, no game play issues, love the bigger drone bay.
Unless everything goes bork overnight I am so pleased that I'd buy ya'll a beer or six. Every fear I had was for nought and an considerable amount of hopes made it off my wish list. I know it's more cool to throw rocks, but hey; thanks, I appreciate the job you've done.

Got it thanks.
One note with zoom in.. it makes the bobbing much much more severe.
CCP, seriously, space doesn't have waves. There is no bobbing around in space. Please remove this 'feature' as it totally shatters Emmersion and makes EVE more difficult to enjoy w/o puking. I actually had to take a Dramamine to ease up the roiling of my stomach from this movement. If I have to take Drams just to play the game, I am going to start submitting a bill to you for payment of my costs.

CCP,
Great job on this patch. As a relatively new player, the most relevant changes for me are the new art updates. I never thought planets would look like anything beyond foam balls. However as nice as they are, I still don't get the sense of size as I should. You have done a great job so far in making ever space look huge, and the planets still need a little more work. My suggestion is to add some thicker atmospheres with multiple layers of clouds above the planets. Some higher resolution textures in some cases could still help.
The stars in many systems look far too big now, and I've noticed you can no longer warp to them?
In future graphic improvements it would be great to so AA enables so that people who have the capability can smooth out some of our edges.
Thanks,
Brek

New mission related bug from patch?
I went and did a mission, when I finished the mission I looted my wrecks and then destroyed them as per my usual pattern (prevents Ninjas from Ninjaing)... I then warped to the station to dock and was REFUSED docking 'due to my recent acts of agression'.
The mission is Rogue Tech (2 of 2). Prior to this patch I never had any issues with docking after a mission.

I think that lowering skill requirements for exploration mini-professions is a pretty bad idea. Not per-se, mind you, I have nothing against allowing new players to try new content, but given the current setup of exploration there is currently no reason to have any professional skill at level 5 to access top-end content, nor training them gives any significant advantage. Which means that you can be fully effective in the so-called "profession" without specializing in it. You realize of course that if you can find a site at all an improved scan strength means you need 4 minutes to find a site instead of 3?
There are several ways to address this issue without impacting new players (e.g. having lvl5s affect the quality of loot, or SIGNIFICANTLY affect the time needed to find a site or open a can), but until you do, lowering the bar like this means removing choices from the game. Because who would waste time training any exploration/professional skill to lvl 5 when they can train... anything else?

Thanx CCP for another great expansion.
Th enew domi navy is so nice, arty changes awesome and so on !!!
But...
The neabulae and the stars looks worse now. It was pixelisated before, now its pixelisated + low res =/. Err did i missed to check textures to high? No, i don't... So... Well...

No need to adjust anything... if you are using a non-digital monitor, then maybe you may notice it less however I, too, share the observation. Especially when I'm viewing EVE with a rather extremely clear (almost to a fault with this game) digital flatscreen 1680x1050 (32 bit/60Hz)... everything is extremely clear, but those stars in the background totally have REDUCED my depth of perception - completely ruining the hard work put in to extreme detail with all other objects in space (the shadows are still horribly unfixed for almost a year now). It is the only visual (aesthetic) problem I've noticed so far. (The wallet and manufacturing lab loop errors are a whole different story...)

Smooth Deployment. Thanks a lot
The graphical overwork is fantastic. Love the new Starfield. An amazing piece of work. New Planets also looks fantastic. Everything feels better then expected.
Only found issues with some new annoying sounds in missions and at star and acceleration gates. Also many missing sounds ingame.
And pressing more buttons at once dont seem to work anymore :(
But overall great job anyways. Nobodys perfect
Thanks

Stars are too bright, makes it harder to see ships.
Text font is too small on high resolution wide screen. 2x x 1.5k.
Bounty system useless.
NPC tax a waste of time, watch the rise of 1 man corps and corp churn.
You reset all my confirmation preferences. I have to YES NO confirm all the time again.

Edited by: Amanda Ugnkiss on 02/12/2009 09:12:49 Has anyone noticed the changes in quantity of components for T2 production has changed.
I could build falcons for 60mil in apocrypha..... Now on current prices (may yet shift when market adjusts) it costs me 96mil to make one. That is 60% more!!!!
I hope everybody would be willing to pay 60% more for the finished product..
I think CCP have created a new high end mineral- i need nearly 200,000 titanium carbide per falcon, up from 40k.
I hope therefore that CCP have vastly increased the output of that mineral from moons or else the price goes up and they cost even more to make.
Long story short- T2 ships will cost much more. and quite possibly be ignored as an affordable and enjoyable pvp option.
I don't fully know the outcome for many ships at this stage though...... fingers crossed.
By the Way: that cost price does not factor in datacores.

Originally by: TR4D3R4LT Hello, this is the situation:
You have corporation/alliance and that corporation has 1 or more spies in it. With the new awesome mail system all corp mails are tagged with both inbox and corp/alliance mail. Also since we're in new system the limit of mails you can have has been increased from 1000 in inbox to 1500. Now correct me if I'm wrong but previously that didnt include corp/alliance mail but since corp mail is now "inbox mail" it does.
So with new mail system and bit of macro/bothering it's possible for one or multiple spies to spam corp/alliance mails enough to clear everyone's mails since their inbox fills up and earlier messages are cleared. Is this intended use of game mechanics?
Mails are not cleared. It shows you the 1500 newest mails. Delete the bot/spy spam, relog and you get again the 1500 newest messages which now includes other mails than just the 1500 bot messages.

T2 component costs have been artifically increased due to market speculation that occured before patch deployment. Eventually these will level out and t2 ships will be cheaper than apoc to build.

Wicked expansion. All good stuff.
However :
Mail.. Love the system, much better. Lumping everything in the inbox.. epic epic fail. This is so frustrating. Corp, Alliance, everything, all in one massive overcrowded box. Please for the love of god tell me this is a bug. Leave corp and alliance mail where it is in their own boxes. Makes finding your personal mail very awkward, and as a ceo or director accidently deleting a corp mail removing it from corp too... Fail...

It works in NPC corps and we did not implement the 0 standing option due to its griefing potential. You can still invite people to your fleet. We might revisit that at a later date. No promise whatsoever.

Mac client: had several ctd's now, one "connection lost". Installing/ upgrade went smooth for 2 clients. Juxebox is kaput. It shows all songs but only plays 1 in an ongoing loop. Trying to kill it with stop button and sound down on juxebox to no avail, it keeps looping.
New weird drone behavior, before if aggressed by rats and then drones deployed they'd just sit there until told to attack, now if aggressed upon deployment they all or 50% of them insta attack the aggressing rats.
Nobody seems to know how to apply the redeem plex for out of game. Would be really nice if you gave an explanation on that. It also helps to have a sticky in GD to tell peeps to post their Dominion findings here. Helps them not getting p-ed off at the robot doing the moderation there.
Upon being booted by the client the OS X channel I'm signed onto gets error "channel does not exsist"?
Nice work on the little things like the main centered capacitor status graphic.

Nice planets, but...
- I'm a bit annoyed that I need sunglasses to play Eve in some systems now, because of the far too bright sun - the sun also doesen't look that cool anymore close up, turn down the levers a bit again - why do we still have to suffer the same old and ugly backgrounds? - warping from one station to another with no planet/moon in between still "sucks" you through one, you can test it between the 2 stations in Ajna for example
That's it so far. :) .
