You were just unlucky. I got two successes and didn't even have any jobs on!

I have placed 7 invention jobs into station and receieved 0 successful jobs. I am trying to invent a Heavy Assault Class ship, specifically the Cerberus. My skills are 3/3/3. Before Dominion was deployed I had put in 4 jobs and recieved 3 successful copies of the bpo. I don't understand what has happened, did they nerf everything in Dominion? I feel that if ccp puts in invention nerf they should tell me, is invention broken? I have filed petition with relevent authorities, but I want justice.

I wonder how in the world you didn't get anything in that many runs, lol.

Logged on and got about 5 successes out of about 15 jobs - Which is pretty much what you'd expect,

Zero results from 5 invention jobs, when my normal success rate is about 40% or better (maxed skills)

Invention depends upon probability. Probability is increased by skill developement and/or inventing something easy.
A ship is more difficult to invent than say a module or ammo. The best you can hope for with max skills on ship invention is around 25% success rate. The best you can hope for with ammo is around 40%.....maybe a bit more. So you can see that with 3/3/3 skills you're usually going to be out of luck.
Probability is applied to each individual invention job. If you're running with a 25% chance of success, then it's 25% chance of success for each job. When you're dealing with probability, you won't see accurate results in small runs. Do a hundred or a thousand and you'll see the average smooth out to 25%. However, if you try 4 times you shouldn't feel something is wrong because you didn't get 1 out of the 4 tries.
You can also use decrypters to adjust your chances, but that is another discusson.

Ship Invention: Maximum 68.04% (37.80 w/o Decryptors) Ammo Invention: Maximum 90.72% (50.40 w/o Decryptors)
Your numbers seem to be a bit off.

^^ He was close enough, without decryptors. Ships are one area where it doesnt make sense to use the max succes rate decryptor, if you have any common sense it should be obvious why.

Heres justice, A) 3/3/3 is still low on the skill standard B)Be carefull higher class T2 ship production is usually not profitable unless you have the infrastructure for it as people have BPOs for them. C)**** happens. When i make T2 ships I make sure its going to be well worth my time, usually this involves figuring in the cost of a decryptor.

You are absolutely correct, partially, and I apologize. It's true that 37.8% is the max success rate for frigate invention using maxed 5/5/5 skills and no decryptor. However, for larger ships such as battlships the max success rate drops to 25.2%, without decryptors. The latter is where I do my inventing and I neglected to account for the increase in invention difficulty as the size and complexity of the ship increases.
The main point of my post remains unchallenged.

Crud. The jump freighters are bigger and more complex than battleships AND they're easier to invent than battleships. I seem to be having difficulty finding a thread of logic to the different chances of success for the different ships.
That having been said, the jump freighters are supposed to have a max invention success rate of 37.8% using 5/5/5 skills and no decryptors. So.....congratulations.

It takes a month to make a freighter BPC so you're going to get quite a few more chances to invent a BS.
