Patch file was "invalid" on first attempt. Installation failed on further attempts.
Downloading the full install came back with Checksum error. "validation failed." (after downloading 2.4gb) (twice)
So the original install is completely messed up, and the full installer doesn't work either. Suggestions?

I get similar, I download the patch and it corrupted the original install and advises me to download the full client. Have now done this (offline installer) and all I get is "CRC failed in eveonline_117956.7z" and I get a error pop up with "Some installation files are corrupt. Please download afresh copy and retry the installation".
Have now downloaded the off-line installer twice and get the same result.

I fixed it like so:
check common.ini in eve folder to make sure that build=117956
Run repair.exe, wait while it downloads everything again. It may take a bit to initialize, as in my case where it downloaded 1903mb.
If you don't have repair.exe, you can get it from a test server patch.
It worked and I am now posting from ingame, though I did need to delete 2 files from /bin due to an error message on startup. The files are specified.

Edited by: Tolnedra on 01/12/2009 23:58:15 Edited by: Tolnedra on 01/12/2009 23:56:04 I uninstalled eve so there wouldn't be anything to "repair". And it seems I'm getting the problem with the download as both the online and offline installers (full client) are failing.
I'm currently trying the online installer again (and crossing my fingers)

I have a different problem with mine, the patcher said something was up so I downloaded it manually and stuff, but when I try and open it I keep getting the same error message: "This application failed to start because d3dx9_41.dll was not found."
Oops I broke it.

I had the same problem (CRC error on unpacking the full dominion client). Patch didn't work at first either. So i deleted everything related to eve (including the cache) and installed apocrypha and then patched with the offline dominion patch.

Just to say that my problem has been resolved.
Was hardware problem: One of the sticks of ram that were installed was throwing up errors when I used the MS memory diagnosis program. Now removed, now able to install eve!

I had to wipe the EVE client completely before the reinstall. I had to do this twice to get it right.
1. Uninstall the EVE Client. 2. Remove all settings, all folders, all registry entries. 3. Make sure you remove anything left manually. 4. Install the EVE client from Apocrypha (this is the one I had) 5. Install the patch downloaded from website. 6. Do NOT change any graphics or settings.
It's clear Dominion is still rigged with bug modules (pun intended).

This is frigging ridiculous. I have to pay for this kind of frustration. they are about to loose a client.

install a virtual machine. copy downloaded eve client onto it, run installation, copy eve client from virtual machine to main machine. Use it.
Virtualbox <- free virtual machine etc
