EventsChicago, July 12th - 15th
Greetings, Starfighter. You have been recruited by these dumb nerds to defend Chicago against cheap booze and barbecue cook outs.
Trim your neck beard, climb the stairs out of your basement, pull up your sweat pants, apply sunscreen, and GET TO CHICAGO for a weekend of nerdy boozing where you can meet the mouth-breather you talk to on Mumble all the time.
If you have questions please ask in this thread. Don't forget to RSVP!
FAQ: Why is this in Chicago? Because we already have strong TEST presence in Chicago and it's in the Midwest. We figured it'd be fair to everyone to travel the same amount, and more people will come.
How I get to Chicago?
- Airplane - varies from where you are coming from. Cheap this far out for sure
- Bus - Megabus is super cheap for fellow midwesterners
- Train - Amtrak is the only way to ...fly
- Your Car -- or Carpooling
I heard parking sucks in Chicago. If I drive, where will I park? If you drive and stay in a hotel, just park in the parking lot near it. Most hotels having parking deals available for guests. If you're really poor, just park at Phobosd's where it is a NO PERMIT REQUIRED PARKING ZONE and take the CTA to your final destination. Be prepared for traffic if you decide to drive anywhere, and don't get upset over it.
Where can I stay? Space is limited. We do have extra beds, couches, and floors. However if you want to be comfortable, bring a sleeping bag and some pillow's. Hell, you can even bring a tent and sleep in the back yard if you want. However, this is a big city so there are a huge variety of hotels. Cheap, expensive, downtown, near the airport that all fluctuate in price. If there are enough people staying in hotels I recommend you all getting together and finding one spot that everyone will stay at. Makes it funner/easier for commuting around and easier for us to find everyone.
Booze?! We have kegs, but if you're super picky about the beer or liquor you drink just bring your own. Same goes for food. We'll have the regular fixings -- dogs, burgers, chips, etc available. Donations are welcome.
Um, I live in Europe and the only flight comes in on Thursday, is that a problem? NO. COME. |
