G'day Chaps!
Well i want to start a fresh Mining/Industry Char. Which race/combo gives the best startup? I havent created a new Char for a really long time and see they pretty much changed the whole Char Creation thing. So whats the best choice now?
First thing i will do is plug in a +4 set and then train all Learnings to 4/4. After that i will go straight for the Hulk. What to train after i'm in my Hulk? Train up mining skills to 5? And after that?
Would be awesome if someone with Industry/Mining experience could compile a quick skillplan.
Thanks guys. |

First off, all races are exactly the same in terms of start. The only thing your starting race gives you is a starting location and decides which rookie ship you get given at the start.
Once you have a hulk and all the associated support skills done, try going for shipbuilding. It's where the real money lies, and it'll give you something to do with your minerals.
Mass Production V Advanced Mass production IV (V eventually) Production Efficiency V
Then maybe tech 2 shipbuilding:
Frigate Construction V Cruiser Construction V Battleship Construction IV Industrial Construction III [racial] Starship Engineering IV Mechanical Engineering IV
Then there's invention (to get the blueprint copies for t2 ships), which is a whole other thing.

Bang for the buck, to get up to speed pulling in ore, get Astro V, Mining IV, mining Barge V, and Mining upgrades to III, with IV's in your fitting skills youll have a solid covetor to fund the rest of your trip up the food chain. Refining V, Refining efficiency IV, and then start working on your ore skills for T2 crystals.
Mining Barge V and Astro Geology V are the two B* that take the most time in getting up to speed. Your ability to produce is limited on your ore intake (though if you have the trade/hauling skills you can get em off the market fairly effectively, but thats another skill tree all together).
AS far as ship progression goes, Unless your plan on using Caldari Cruisers, Just get Frig to IV and mine like the ****ens to get a retriever. If you have the funds from an alt, just station camp em untill you get sit in a retriever, which should take only approximately 18-35 days depending on your attribute stack.
But the advice given above is good for the production side of the house.
There is a Mining Guide out there written by Halada: Halada's Complete Miner's Guide. Goodle or forum search it out and youll get the mineral side of the equation. It has some advice for production as well.
Market wise, the best bang for the buck is in t1 ammo in FW space. Run Sell just shy of market value to keep things moving (above mineral costs) untill you get your BPo's propperly researched to start diving into other venues.
Good luck.

You need frigate construction V to make assault ships and cruiser construction V to make heavy interdictors and command ships
