Edited by: Tuscun Nebular on 05/12/2009 23:42:18 It's really great to hear CCP finally admit that there's problems with dominion! The other day I had so much lag after installing that patch. (PROBLEMS AFTER INSTALLING PATCH) Pror to the patch, no problems! but yet when I posted about it, eve players did noting but write negative responses to my post. BTW it wasn't the cable company, not was anything wrong with my $2400.00 computer system, because all was checked by a PROFESSIONAL (My neighbors son in in college for computer engineer) and passed inspection with flying colors! IT WAS AND IS THE PATCH, but yet we have the people who hide behind their computers terminals jumping from post to post and attempt to antagonize other players with their STUPIDITY! SUCK ON THAT! You know who you are!

Mine cost like ú250 (lets say $300) 3 years ago and has been upgraded through hand me downs and still runs Dominion better than most so called pro rigs, so derp.
EDIT: I see your PC devalued $300 in like 2 minutes, that sux.

Cool story, brah.

Very much doubtful :) A 3 year old CPU cannot ever, ever come anywhere even close to a Core I7, Top of the range motherboard, DDR3 Ram etc. What score does your "pro beater" come in the superpi 1 mil test?

While this is true, EVE is not really depending that much on CPU. My personal experience is that the main bottleneck when playing EVE on older systems is usually the video card or memory bandwidth.

I'm sorry, but no, they do not. Building a computer system is fairly easy, as is troubleshooting; however, knowing how to do one thing does not teach you how to do the other. While the brain surgery reference was a bit far off, he had a good point. Remember: the most troublesome computer users are not the ones who don't know anything about computers - it's the ones who THINK they know something who are the pain in the arse.
I do not know the person in question and thus cannot tell whether he is good at troubleshooting or not, but I would advise you to NOT assume that someone is a computer professional just because this someone is studying computer science. A professional is per definition someone who does something for a living, and not someone studying the subject at hand.

I will run that when I get home but it's going to be terrible.
I was really meaning 'at this time' since I have read plenty of comments across forums about very new rigs hitting lots of issues, while I have had none and in fact have seen a performance update As usual anything I say needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.

I'm gonna call shenanigans, unless you bought that POS prebuilt, you got ripped off royal. Even buying i7 if you spend more than 1300$ US you are an idiot.
Hell, I spent 900$ on my PC and I do superPI in 12 seconds. Not that that is a benchmark worth any kind of actual value. I get over 300FPS in EVE, 1920x1080, 8xAA, 16xAF, all the bells and whistles. +/- depending fleet variables.
20$ says you go to geeksquad to update your norton and buy monster HDMI cables.

Right, a few points with this to totaly break your argument apart. First, Still being in college to obtaint the degree doesnt mean he's a Proffessional. You'll need to have actually finished the study and have a job in the field. College experiance means jack shyte. Secondly, A Computer Engineer doesnt mean you know hot shyte about hardware, half the students at our Uni here still need to poke someone who does hardware on a daily basis. Thirdly, If you payed $2400 for a high-end gaming rig just for Eve, i'm afraid that you've been ripped off. I got a rig sitting here for less then Ç1100 which works perfect for what-ever's on the market.
Now, if you really want to play the "Deary me, i got massive lag, and it must be due to Eve's new patch", then atleast try to reinforce it by saying what else you are running during eve that eats your ram, or your bandwidth, or even post the details on the rig.

So you too have a Core I7 overclocked from the standard 2.66Ghz? If not you can't do pi 1m in 12 seconds :)
this is because the Core I7 blows its predecessors away when it comes to crunching numbers.
Well done when it comes to your FPS I think thats a pretty standard FPS these days on a newer system. I take it you use interval immediate then?
Why FPS is an important issue in eve is beyond me, its not like its a fast paced FPS game where every millisecond counts for the kills.
Also your americans get PC hardware cheap, you should count yourself damn lucky. Im from the UK and we pay a HELL of alot more for hardware than you guys.
The top of the line Graphics card seen here:
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/N2GB-XFX-HD-5970-Black-4GHz-(6GHz-OC)-GDDR5-GPU-725MHz-(1GHz-OC)-3200-Cores-2x-DL-DVI-I-Mini-DP
That costs $919...
Core I7 920 D0 stepping
http://www.scan.co.uk/Shop/Computer-Hardware/All/CPUs-Intel/Intel-Core-i7-(Bloomfield)-Socket-1366
$338
Top of the line motherboard
http://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-P6T-Deluxe-Motherboard-Definition/dp/B001P61O4Y
$389
So were already way past $1300 and theres still this to buy:
RAM has to be DDR3 1.65v PSU Case HDD Opticals
Americans got it easy with PC hardware
Period

LMFAO! You spend 2.4 grand on a computer system, then have your neighbor's son inspect it. Anyone who knows even the basics of computers can build a top notch system for a thousand dollars less than you paid.

On a more serious note?
Computer degrees mean jack all. Try actually WORKING in tech support, and computer retail. Paying $2400 for ANY computer means you are a frikking grade :A: moron who needs to have it taken away.
Seriously. Your PC is a piece of junk, I've seen better broken up for spare parts. Getting a high number on a benchmark is PRETTY meaningless. Real world tests are more useful. (Real world as in gaming terms...) My pc? Runs Crysis on maximum with little issue. I don't even bother overclocking. EvE? I have not had one single problem since Dominion release. None. Nada. Even the autoupdate worked with zero glitches. If you don't have the knowledge or experience to talk about computers in real terms, or understand even the simple concept of getting the most out of your hardware without spending thousands of punds or dollers on shiny (But pointless) junk? Don't talk about computers, or blame other people (CCP in THIS case) for your own lack of understanding.
If you are a troll, 5/10, because it's been a long day and I've not had dinner yet.

I had computer looked at to make sure there's nothing wrong with my system, I called cable company to make sure nothing's wrong there! Ten CCP admits there was in fact problems on thier end! After CCP announced problems were corrected, there's no more problems with the game...Hmmmmmm...Maybe I should consult with a rocket scientist, or better yet, listen to these moronic posts?

To everybody saying that being in college for a Computer Engineering degree doesn't mean you know how to troubleshoot/fix PC's, etc.: You're right.
I'm about 2/3 of the way to getting my 2 year Computer Engineering degree, and they have yet to teach me jack-**** about PC's. Sure, I can translate from Hex to octal to binary and then back to into decimal. Sure I know basic C++ and I also know some basic assembly language.
But to actually trouble shoot and figure out what's wrong, and then know what to do to fix it?
Nope. Not one damn class came close to it except for the "Computer Assembly and Maintenance" class, which taught like the bare basics that anybody who has owned a PC for over a year would know. (Also, I hated the teacher I had for that class. Most of the students I talked to that had her hated her for that class. And yet she -still- teaches it.)
I'm seriously hoping I can get an apprenticeship somewhere, and actually ****ing -learn- how to troubleshoot and fix PC's, as College doesn't seem to be the place to learn it.
