I keep getting dropped every 5 mins as well, was fine yesterday .. wtf .. I'm getting tired of this f'n game and it's issues, played Call of Duty forever for free and never had issues, play an MMO and pay for and nothing but issues .. seems kind of backwards to me
I know when I'm at my friends house on a laptop if I do a ping to 87.237.38.200 (Ping 87.237.38.200 -t) I keeps the connection up and live (on wireless)

I'm in London Ontario with rogers and having the same issue, perhaps i should complain on their forums instead of here?

It's probably Rogers causing the issue.
London/Toronto/general Ontario area all use the same transatlantic link that we here in Buffalo NY USA use, and I've been solid all day (excepting the server burp earlier.)
Of course, Rogers sucks, so its not surprising that you would have issues. They seem to delight in causing connectivity issues for gamers. Bunch of lazy bastages if you ask me. Fix the Wardec System! Upgrade the Probing System! |

For a favorable opinion of Rogers, simply compare them to the Leafs.

tracert is best choice. I would suggest power cycling the modems before and after and see if you notice any different routes.
run a few pathpings to various sites and see if you notice any packet loss.
best of luck.

Edited by: Baihuigau on 06/12/2009 17:38:03 I dont think its a conection issue per say mindstar, since im also with rogers as well and with me i get the same 5m socket closed but if i open the ingame browser
im able to keep browsing until i click any button in the client other than the browser and then i get the socket closed error, it looks like more of a sinc issue between the client and the eve cluster somehow.
Did a trace route everything looks good theres a 100 ping in eurorings.net and a 271 ping in 134.222.109.173

Confirming that this is the first thing to do when only eve seems to be having connection issues for you specifically and not any other sites or even online games. Dunno why it works but it does.

I don't know if you tried this but there is a button to reconnect to lost probes, in case you disconnect. I wish they had these for Drones as well.

After several minutes the servers allocate your connection to someone else as you're no longer a user. When you reconnect you get a fresh connection and with some ISP's even a new IP address. This can drop or reset any bad connections. When I have a bad connection (rarely) I switch off my router for about 30 minutes and that always fixes it.

Try leaving a ping -t to google in the background, see if the disconnets still persist.

There a reason you tried to compare apples to oranges here?
CoD and Eve-online use two COMPLETELY different network protocals, thus, just because ONE game works well on the net - doesn't mean the other should as well. Keep in mind, CoD doesn't have to keep track of TENDS OF THOUSANDS of players that are online at once in one massive cluster. Last I checked, CoD has indivisual servers that don't even come CLOSE to the number of players eve uses.
Either way, an MMO is more network intensive, and more prone to problems than you might think. Don't compare a singular multiplayer game whose's network protocals are different from an MMO, because you can't compare them at all. Now, you CAN compare Eve-online to another MMO (Such as LotRO in this case, which I get disconnected from a lot, but I don't get disconnected from Eve anywhere near as much)
---
Anyway, to get back on topic. Had numerious problems last night trying to stay connected, figured it was my ISP though, but there were times when the connection flat out died and I could reconnect afterwords.
