Umm can I please get my warp at "##km" back, this was an undocumented change. Most people will read this thinking it's part of my post, when its actually my sig :P

"Warp to within xxkm" is still working here. No change.

I'm a little surprised that I haven't seen more discussion about this. For some people, this change will have a major impact on how they run their missions.

Seeing as I'm spec'ed for sniping range in all the ships I fly, sort've messes me up. Now there's a few ways around it but all require nerfing my fitting or the time it takes to run the mission. Most people will read this thinking it's part of my post, when its actually my sig :P

They swapped encounter with deadspace as far as warp to and gates and such. Must be a mistake/bug.

It seems like it would be a mistake. Being able to dictate warp-in range to a gate is not particularly useful.

If it's surrounded by a deadspace bubble (which 90% of missions are), you can not warp to X km. Blame the Jovians for not giving us the technology we need for traveling through deadspace bubbles.
Also, if it's not in a deadspace pocket, the first warp-in will always warp you to the same location. You can warp in wherever you wish the second time on. It's always been this way.

Only one mission I can think of that this is needed on, Right Hand of Zazzmatazz, and that one default warps at 40km or something now.
Confirming that you can warp at any range to a deadspace gate, though. Warped to 100 to a gate yesterday to see what would happen and ended up 88kms out.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. EVE has devs that care about sound? (Ha ha ha! Gotcha. It actually doesn't!) |

Being forced to warp to 0 on damsel is a pain in all the wrong ways.
Oh well, to the PLEX screen to get me a hyperion and some blasters. Because I can. |

Why you don't need specific warp-in distance anymore

I'm not sure what the issue is. Once you initiate warp to the mission, cancel the warp. Now that it's spawned, you can warp in at any distance you like.
I was having to do this before the patch, and it still works for me on The Blockade last I checked...

It doesn't work for The Blockade for me. Says The Blockade is now Deadspace.

Confirming cancel warp and re-warping no longer works on Right Hand of Zazzmatazz. Don't know about other mission I used it for, haven't had Damsel since the patch.

Another thing that I have noticed is that if you do warp in at range to a mission that has an acceleration gate and go through to the next pockets, it adds your warp in range to the default range to the next gate.
For example, on the the score. Normally when you warp into the first pocket with NPC's you are ~20 KM from the next gate. However since the patch I have warped in at 30 KM to the mission and after getting to the gate and warping into the next room I have found my self 50-60 KM from the gate.
I would like my warp to... option back though

Sniping in Damsel also does not work anymore. You warp into optimal range of the battleships..

Confirming that the choice to warp in at distance has also disappeared on ôStop the thiefö Level 4. I used to find this particularly handy to warp out as I killed the trigger BS and then warp back in at 100km for the second spawn.

Edited by: Brutalinator on 09/12/2009 16:33:44 Yes let's make the missions as easy as possible, allow warp at 100-200km so everyone can just relax and partly afk while doing missions, fit dmgmods and skip fitting tank entirely. Sucks to have to worry about loosing a ship in those missions, they should be safe as hauling in Jita... no wait. Also, CCP could you let NPC's also stop attacking drones and nerf the damage they do, and reduce their resistances so I don't have to waste all this ammo.
one more thing, could you let those close range NPC frigs f'in stay still instead of orbiting, hate having to waste a med slot for a web.
oh oh and allow MWDs again PLZ! K THX BAI

Yes, they messed up and everything that has a gate, and SHOULD be "deadspace" is now an encounter, and those without a gate are called "deadspace" which is wrong. CCP messed it up.
This switch has nothing to do with the stopping the warp to 100km or whatever, because now you just do it on the ones that say "deadspace" since they have no gate. Encounter missions have a gate and you can only warp to 0 on those which is backwards from what it was before.

Why do you think missions are any easier at range ? They could, as in my case take about the same amount of time as if I had just warped a perma-tanked Dominix in at 0km. In fact they are probably slower than warping my Kronos in blaster fit at 0km.
Also, some missions already do let you use MWD, shows how much you know about mission running. Most people will read this thinking it's part of my post, when its actually my sig :P

Just because a mission doesn't have a gate does not mean it is not in deadspace; prime examples are Search and Rescue, and Cargo Delivery.

No trolling, just venting :) I mission plenty man, MWD's are only allowed in encounters, where you really don't need one anyway. I do most of the missions in the same, most efficient ways, though my L5 vary alot, depending on what I'm dealing with. If I need to warp at range, then it is to reduce dps, since some missions can be doing over 3500 dps on full aggro. When I do, i warp in at a shuttle, bookmark, then warp to that bookmark at a range. Just watch out, gangwarping on range to a BM doesn't work, the rest of your fleet will go at 0.

Just tried Stop the Thief, a mission I always warp in at range on. No "warp to X" anywhere :(, now a deadspace. WTF, this mission you almost need to be able to warp in at range as the second spawn does crazy dps when they are close, and they spawn right top of the warp in spot.
