OK, so there's the can flip, selling a normal ship for the price of a navy version, getting people to join a corp so you can pod them, selling 1 unit of something instead of the expected 10,000... and plenty more besides.
I fell for the "looting your wrecks in a mission to try to get you to shoot at them so they can bring in all their buddies" trap a while back...
What have you fallen for, and what steps have you taken to make sure you don't get taken advantage of again?

I just minimize local when I go to Jita and I never fall for a scam.
Although on one occasion I called someone a stupid **** for spamming scam contracts and he opened a trade window with me to show off 27 plexes or some crap. Apparently a lot of people fall for scams. The views expressed by me in my forum posts are in no relation to my Corporation or my Alliance. I swear my cat made me type them. |

i doubt ppl will admit to their stupidity /like 1 unit instead of x, 1 normal instead of navy)
but feel free to look to contracts on the scammers, there might be some names there ^^ (oh and also in before "oh noes, our privacy, remove the contract view for completed contracts)

Most of them are pretty easy to avoid, I guess, if you keep an eye out. The Charon/Carbon one is certainly one I've seen around, so I guess it's quite common. ... and yeah... Jita... 'nuff said, I suppose.
As for courier contracts... back when I had my (actual) Charon, you sure as hell had to be careful with those.

I wouldn't even call half of these scams. A scam is when you get someone to trust you and make an investment in you. Selling something for 5x the price is hardly a scam it's just stupidity. ----------------------------------------------- Free Trade Corp - Flash page

I think I remember falling for the can flip trick back in '04. Other than that, I've been pretty careful.
