I think things will mostly stay the same. I imagine the large alliances with 100 systems or more under their name will let some of those systems go. But as it has been stated many times by other pilots, those recently abandoned systems are still going to be patrolled and very much under control of the alliances that once owned them. -

I personally predict that, technically the alliances will keep what they have, but rent out systems to other alliances, so help keep them under control, especially central systems that arent worthh much to the alliance, but are surrounded by key systems the Main alliance would wish to keep...
In short, even bigger NAP fests

This is clearly a patch aimed at China-EVE to fix that problem they had with one alliance owning all of 0.0. We just happen to ride along on the update train.

I would also speculate that nothing major will happen. The Fleets are still out there hungry for blood ... Unless the lacks of DD smartbombs encourages some kind of conflict somewhere ofc, but the sides for major players are too equal and defence lines have been tested again and again over the past month or so looking for vunerability (as always) that major conflict in the near future seems to be low propability.
Now smaller stuff, closer to empire areas, Prolly yes. Some will try, and when they seem to start sucseeding then the real owners of the systems will bring our the dread blobs ... or make a deal with the usurpers that seem to be more fit to be pet.

from the way they are constantly crying and moaning they might finally act upon their threats to quit and leave Eve and let the younger generation Eve player come in and take over.

pew pew and bang, it takes eight hours ( I think) to make a system vulnerable ( Two hours online time, and then 6 hours of >51% of gates being blocked). Then I-hub killing station (with two reinforced periods) and finally the TCU. If you want to take space, you gotta field those ships, in big numbers, for a long time.
