Hello,
I would like to show my idea of what I call the "Default View Position".
Often when I undock from a station or jump through a stargate, I found my cameraview inside or very close to the ship in the horizontal level of the tactical overlay and not at the distance I had set the camera before.
So my idea is, that it should be possible to save the prefered view-distance to the ship and also the prefered view-angle in relation to the horizontal level of the tactical overlay. Like you can set the default "keep in range" and "orbit distance".
This "Default View Position" should be allways loaded after undocking from a station or jumping through a stargate and should be loadable by clicking on the button "reset camera" leftsided on the hud. Also it should be possible to save the "Default View Position" by right mouseclick on that button.
This is my idea. I would like to read your comments to it. And please excuse me, if my english is not so good

I support the idea. I like to play longrange fittings and it is really annoying to zoom out everytime.

There are much more things, that should be fixed first. But the idea itself would be a good improvement to the game and should no be difficult to realize.

I think the reason the camera gets reset evreytime you undock is because the ship is no longer in the same direction and position as just before you dock. If the pre-dock camera is kept, it might run into the structures of the station or something big nearby (and become confusing) and that is not what the developers want you to see.
I believe this reason alone is enough to justify the camera reset.
Furthermore, you only need a flick of your mouse to move the camera - and you do it all the time anyway - so why bother with a "aligned" camera angle after undock?
Plus, adding something like this into the already congested UI isn't very appealing. Its usefulness does not justify putting any pixel on the UI in my opinion.

This happens already now. Often when the camere isnot zoomed near to the ship (the fact that it is sometime IN the shipstructure is a well known bug) and you undock from a station, the camera starting position is located IN the structure of the station. So is your argument against the Idea already a buggy part of the EVE-UI today.
Maybe it would be a good solution, when the camera is set to the *default view position* in front of the ship when it is undocking. This should avoid the *Camera in Station structures*-Bug.
Or only the possibility to set the *Default View Position* by clicking the reset-camera-button afer each jump or undock process.
And I dont think, the UI is congested so much.

Indeed, same procedure as every year and one of the most wanted option for ZoomingÖ.

I don't know what to say to this. If I were to support it, it would be like clapping when fire departement show up after a house has burned down, just to applaude the initiative.
I think ccp should at least fix the camera thing first.
A fixed default view distance sounds nice thought.
