I just made a corp with a friend and have a goal of owning our own POS for research. Money issues aside how do I go about raising my Corp's standings with the sovereign nation to let me anchor one? It's been almost a week now and my Corp's standings are still completely neutral with everyone.
I've read that the Corp. standings change every DT closer your Corp average which hasn't happened. Then i've also read that doing missions and then faction/storyline missions is the way to do it and I've done that too with no change to corp standings.
What is the mechanism for calculating corp standings and how long should it take for us to get enough standing to anchor a POS?

What you read was the old mechanics. With Apocrypha (last spring) the mechanics were changed.
Corp standings are calculated every downtime by taking the average standings of all members who have been in the corp for at least 7 days. So with new corps, it will take 7 days before the corp standings reflect the standings of its members.

Estel is correct about joining, but I think if a member leaves that is calculated the very next downtime. Sol: A microwarp drive? In a battleship? Are you insane? They arenĘt built for this! Clear Skies - The Movie ROTDK is recruiting

That's what I said. Calculated every downtime, counting all members who have been in the corp for at least 7 days. The logical conclusion would be that when someone leaves, the standings will be recalculated the next downtime.

Another quick question along this vein, does standings boosted by connections count toward the company or is it only true standings that effects corp standing movements?

Only base standings matter, no social skills.

Do standings affect rental-fee for hangars/office's?
If not, what determines the rent a station take for an office?

Standings no. Simple supply and demand, Jita, Motsu, Amarr = expensive. Backwater somewhere = very cheap.

Base rent is 10k isk. Rent rises by 5% if all offices are rented (0 available). Rent stays the same if there is one office free (1 available). Rent drops by [...%] if there are [two/three] offices free.
I have confirmed the first three statements myself by looking at office prices in a particular station daily. I have yet to see the rent drop, but I haven't seen many available offices in the station yet. All rent calculations/changes are done at downtime.

Edited by: Estel Arador on 11/12/2009 13:03:08 Up until recently I rented 300 offices all over the universe.
In high-sec I considered anything up to 500k 'cheap'; 1M-2M is reasonable; 5M-10M is pushing it; anything more is just stupid.
Of course it depends a bit on what you use your office for and what facilities the station has. I only needed my offices for applications. If you're a production corp and rent an office in a station with manufacturing slots you can afford to pay more for the office (since moving it will be quite a hassle and the office/hangars contribute to your profits).

I only spelled it out as it is so counter-intuitive. Your reply is indeed logically consistent Sol: A microwarp drive? In a battleship? Are you insane? They arenĘt built for this! Clear Skies - The Movie ROTDK is recruiting
