It was mentioned by several in a thread in general discussions that a wardec is nothing more then a bribe to CONCORD to look the other way and the person getting wardec'd should also be able to bribe concord.
And I liked the idea so much I felt I should post it here.
So the cost of a wardec is 4 mill. If the corporation that is the target gives Concord 8 mill within the 24 hour timers concord will; Nullify the wardec for one week. (ie the same corporations can't wardec each other for said one week)
So for an alliance it is 50 mill so the payoff would be 100 mil.
This will get rid of lots of joke wardecs but @ a price.
I could even see raising the the payoff to 12 and 150 mill.
This would provide an option for those that wish not to fight without playing the whole corp jumping game.

....well, while i understand your view, I don't agree with it. War deccing is a part of the game mechanics and allowing ppl to pay their way out of it hurts lower lvl pirate corps wanting to attack fat juicy targets that can pay off lots of war decs according to your system. I say if they do anything, don't allow the corp to jump ship during a war dec. Either learn to fight, or stay docked (which half do anyway). Joke war decs may be annoying, but if ppl blow their money like that...so be it. Giving ppl an option to buy their way out of a war other than by giving it to the attacker will break the system even more.

I agree, CCP should tweak the system a little so that it's not a "I want to annoy you for 10 weeks and you can do nothing against it" button... --- "Multiple exclamation marks are a sure sign for a diseased mind." -Terry Pratchett |

Your idea would allow rich carebear mission runner corps to simply buy their way out of any war, so no, bad idea.
The best temoprary solution untill wardecs are revisited would be to up the cost for declaring a war.

i'm going to see if I can pull some strings in my alliance and get your alliance dec'd for such a stupid post. And if your corp leaves to avoid dec, I'll get em to dec your corp. That's 5 IQ pts. I'll never be able to get back cause I read your post.

If anyone has a better suggestion lets here it. Sadly the whole system makes as much sense as bounty hunting.
Hey I didn't say it was perfect and I did leave holes in it for the attacker to abuse.
Originally I thought as part of the bribe the attacker would get there money back but that doesn't really serve any real purpose. It also doesn't change the fact that if somebody doesn't want to fight they might just dock up for the week. So then the attacked spent 4 mill for a net of zero.
THe point being you are wardecing to get a fight or cause someone to pay your ransom.
Okay so what if they made the wardec system like a contract. You wardec and set a price to get out of it. If the target pays then they have one week a freedom . Rinse and repeat.

Heres a better idea.
Give the person deccing the opportunity to add a "Buyout" to the war dec if they dont add it, it works just like a standard war dec in its current form.
If the corp who gets decced wants to pay their way out of the dec, let them. If they pay Dec is declared invalid and the corps cannot declare war on each other for 1 week
Also means that those smaller PvP corps can actually make isk out of deccing the right people and setting the buyout at a sensible price. You could repeatedly dec and demand a payout, but it just means that the corp thats got decced will stop payout up and will have to either fight in their mission drakes/ravens or run away like huge *****'s
i think this mechanic would work fairly well.
Could also be implemented as a mercinary tool. If a corp pays you to dec somebody, stick the buyout at twice the ammount and if corp pays up you can refund the isk you were initially paid and make a profit, meaning you get good rep as a merc corp.
Nice eh! and if you are reading this you have reached the signature without noticing. |

Buyout mechanics are already ingame, difference is that you CAN get scammed which is fine and in spirit of eve.

which would be an awesome isk sink
now seriously... why not to apply this idea BUT the isk is given to the wardecers instead of to CONCORD.
the counterpart would be, make it impossible to wardec again the same corporation. something like a "peace contract" justified by the payment. This can be either forever or just temporaly (for example 3 months of peace) __________________________________ - Mining your own minerals doesnt drop your manufacturing costs! - Marginal earnings is what actually counts - Time is isk and enjoyment is isk aswell |

What people who suggest changes to wardec mechanics need to keep in mind is the intention behind wardecs. I see these threads all the time, complaining about people abusing wardecs just for "griefing" purposes, and suggesting ways to stop this. First of all, it's not griefing when a purely pirate corp decs a purely industrial corp. That's just silly carebears not being equipped to defend themselves and they had it coming. Aside from that, though, I have yet to see anyone post an idea to change wardecs that doesn't completely destroy the intended purpose of wardecs.
A wars are in the primarily so as two entities competing for the same resources can compete for them by force of arms. This is vitally important, since there is no other way a smaller, poorer corp could ever compete otherwise. A long established corp may have 250 members, all of whom are multi billionaires, and they may have been happily farming every belt in a constellation for the past year. This doesn't leave room for a new 25 man corp to move in and compete, because the larger corp can afford to lose money to crush them on the market, they have more manpower to mine the belts dry immediately after downtime, and they may have all the local moons already claimed for their own POSes.
However, perhaps the smaller corp has 10 really good PVPers in it, and perhaps the larger corp is entirely industrial. The smaller corp can then declare war, conduct hit and run attacks on the larger corp's logistics, attack their miners, take down their POSes, and establish themselves in the area that way. In other words, that side of Eve is all about market domination. While there is no way for a smaller, pooer entity to compete directly on economic or industrial terms, military methods make it possible. This is one of the core principles of Eve, and allowing a richer corp to buy their way out of a war makes it entirely redundant.
