You are a freighter and you will be mine, and you will be my freighter. Hello, pretty Charon. I will name you "Flying Brick".
So, can anyone tell me how to make ISK with a freighter?

A Charon you say...
Put it up on contract for 299 isk together with a couple of freight containers. Then spam Jita local with "Selling Carbon, 299 isk: <link to contract>"
Someone looking for carbon will see your contract and since Charon and Carbon looks almost the same, they will believe they are really buying carbon while instead they are getting your worthless freighter. Profit!
See the scam thread for more info how this works (I may have misunderstood some of the details).

Rule one, only buy a freighter when your business is getting so big that you NEED one. Freighters are NOT isk printers in themselves.
That being said, it seems you can make decent isk finding stuff that is 10% cheaper in hub1 than in hub2, fill up freighter and sell stuff in hub2. I wouldn't know cause I bought a freighter mostly for bragging rights |

Hmmm... You describe a pretty potent need there. :)

You are correct, sir! Lowsy me.
When I was a young boy, long before I even knew what a capsuleer was, I was stargazing from my station window when a long, rectangular spot in the sky started blocking out the stars. That rectangle grew larger (slowly), and swallowed up all the stars. I was very afraid. What monstrosity could be so large that even the stars gave way to it? Or was there some other entity in the galaxy actually eating up the stars. Needless to say, as it grew (slowly) larger, blocking out more and more stars, I had to get a second change of underwear (you can imagine my fright). (Is this block of text long enough yet? Perhaps another paragraph.)
When all of the stars were gone and the flying brick came closer to the station, I could start to see the details. This was a ship! A very big ship! I had to change my underwear again. From that moment on I determined that I must fly a ship so large and slow as that freighter. Only then could I be considered a true man. A ship that large and lumbering would define my manhood.
So I flew millions of Level 1 missions, driven by the desire to one day pilot a Charon. Eventually (and I do mean eventually), I had enough ISK to buy one. Oh, joys. The first Charon I bought, by some freak of nature, had reverted itself into a small lump of coal. I figured some bearded fellow in a red suit must really hate me. Back to my Level 1 missions I went! I would not be deterred! Years and years (and oh so many years) later, I again had enough ISK to buy a freighter. Now it is sitting in my hanger. Now that I can fly a brick, I cannot bring myself to do Level 1 missions any longer. I must use my gigantic manhood (the freighter, of course) to make ISK.
So how can I use a freighter to make ISK?
(Was that better? )
EDIT: Whoops, and posted with a price checker alt. This is still Dretzle Alpha, of course.

Long story short do you build or mine enough stuff to need to use a freighter to haul your stuff?
A freighter doesn't make you isk you cant make using another ship. But what it does do is mean you can haul large volumes in less time. For me its that time that's makes freighters worth while.
Hauling a couple billion trit from mining sites to capital production sites is not something you want to be doing with an industrial if you have production deadlines to meet :D

There are 4 well-known steps to making money with a freighter.
1. Buy Freighter and rejoice in its freightery largeness 2. Undock and rotate camera around it for hours as you align for warp 3. ???? 4. Profit!
Hope that helps, Dretz XD

Ooo, great!
Now if you could lay out the precise quantities, prices and where I can retrieve this "POS fuel". (POS? Piece of ****?) Then I can benefit more off of the generous advice of MD.

Quote: The way to make money with a freighter is to keep it moving. The goal is to make money on every jump. An empty hold is a bad thing. A classic combo is to trade ore and minerals and combine that with courier jobs. When you aren't flying to deliver a package, you're flying to pick up your stuff and sell it. If you plan well, you can get some really efficient routes. I made 3 billion in my first month. But I needed 1 billion in liquid capital to cover collateral for courier jobs and to buy mins/ore while I traveled. You may want to train your refine skills to complement this plan of action.
Quoting myself from a recent, similar thread. It never ceases to amaze me how many people think you can't buy a freighter and start making money. I did exactly that, and I've never looked back. You DO need a lot of liquid capital at the outset, but once you get cranked up, you'll see just how great freighters really are.
If you decide to join a freighter/courier corp, I hope you'll consider Red Frog Freight.

It all began at the character creation screen. Diesel was taken, so I thought I'd be creative and put in Dzil. For some reason the most common pronunciation of this results in something like dazille, but I can at least keep it right in my head.
I trained for months to become the best space trucker in the universe. I could fly an industrial before I could fly a cruiser. For money, I would run courier missions, since the industrial didn't fair so well in combat. It was about this time that I learned the art of the regional buy order to scoop up crap rewards from mission agents: yes, back then you didn't just get isk and implants for your hard work, agents would provide you with all manner of crap electronics, milk, and lumps of soil. Oh the days where you could buy soil for a penny each.
Well, some time passed and I got bored with my account, so I asked a friend for advice. He mentioned marketing and how it would let me sell off all the crap I was accumulating across the galaxy without actually flying there. I hesitated, for this wasn't really the dream of the space trucker... but what the heck.
Now, presently I have industrials 5 and spaceship command 5, which by my calculations puts me on the green and a couple short putts away from fulfilling my dream of piloting my own Walmart. But I'm given moment to pause: how does one go about making isk with a frieghter? Thanks for any advice.

First and foremost let me say, you're a lazy fool. In the future try eve-search.com before clicking "New Topic" or better yet think the question through yourself.
This thread in its many forms has appeared in MD a hundred times over and every time the answer is the same: A freighter is not a source of wealth. It is a tool and an expensive one at that. If you have a profitable plan that necessitates one then buy it, otherwise save your money. You don't buy a hammer then ask, "how will this hammer make me money?" It's nothing but a tool; come up with a plan then buy what you need to make it happen.

I'm not afraid to admit that I started my career in Eve looking for hardcore PvP action, however on my third day ingame I took a Kestrel fitted with Civilian Gatling Guns into a system called "Passari". There were some bright lights on the screen for a fleeting moment or two, and then my character woke up, without a ship, in a different system called "Todaki". Suspecting a glitch, I petitioned CCP to investigate their obviously faulty server, but to this day I have yet to receive a response.
No matter. A friendly guy in the rookie help channel gave me a fortune in ISK (over a million!!!11!) and told me to go to Jita and buy a new ship there, because that was where all the best prices were.
So I did.
And my jaw dropped outside the main station there.
Never before had I seen such huge ships, docking and undocking every few seconds, piling into each other and bouncing off like a freak accident in a pinball machine factory. They were vast! VAST!
My Kestrel was dwarfed next to these space whales - some of them thin, long and wafer-like; others bulging like a fat man's jowls. I watched them for hours, and it was then that I made my decision. The decision I have never regretted. I was going to fly one of these gargantuan beasts, one day, if it was the last thing I did.
Fast forward 18 months of Level 1 missions (man, the agent at the School Of Applied Knowledge loves me! +10! +10!!!!).
Someone suggested I should try level 2 missions, but I'm not stupid - I knew I would need a Cruiser to have a chance of doing them, and I didn't want to spend any of my carefully-saved ISK on upgrading a ship. The Skillbooks I needed to pilot a Freighter were expensive enough!
But then, one day - ONE GLORIOUS DAY - I made it. I was there. I had the skills, and I had the isk, and I, too, could experience the excitement of undocking from Jita in an incredibly large ship. No longer would I be the "outsider" - the one they all pointed and laughed at. No, today the laughs would be on THEM.
It was amazing. I bought my freighter, and could barely contain my excitement as I boarded it for the first time. I actually spoke to it as though it were a beautiful girl I had just bought. I mean met.
I docked and undocked from 4-4. <-- see, I even know the lingo now. Apparently this is what the professional freighter pilots call it. I still don't know what CNAP is though
So I spent the best part of my weekend, undocking and docking, so that all Eve would know of my uncountable triumphs over CCP's best - the incredibly tough "World's Collide" mission. I had, truly, arrived in New Eden.
And here I am, now. To be honest, the excitement of docking and undocking in my Charon (ooh, that sounds good to say!) has waned slightly over the past few weeks, and I'm thinking of taking it out of Jita at some point soon.
I hope my story has inspired some of you to follow my example, and you too can be a part of the Elite.
My question to the forum, though, is, I guess, "Now what? ie How do I make ISK with a freighter?". Any advice would be really helpful!
