You are seriously overcompensating for just EVE, that can do very well in Crysis at 1440x900. I would seriously get a 1680x1050 or FullHD monitor with that. ------------------------------------- The system issues man. |

At that resolution you could get buy with a GTX260/4870 and be fine. You should seriously consider buying a higher resolution monitor with a setup like that. Like 1920x1080 or higher.
If you can get a hold of a 5850/70 I'd go for that instead though tbh.
answering your question, yes it will handle EVE very nicely. CPU is a little underpowered for the 2 graphics cards though. The views expressed by me in my forum posts are in no relation to my Corporation or my Alliance. I swear my cat made me type them. |

i have a 22 inch 1080i tv and the proper cable connections, but for teh most part this is a stand alone laptop with it a few external harddrives and a travel mouse.

Put it this way, my desktop is a year-old budget gaming self build running an E5200 Core2Duo at 2.5GHz, 2gigs of low-end DDR3 RAM and a GeForce 9600GT, and I play EvE with all settings maxed out without any stutter at all.
Certainly I'd have to kill those settings in a large fleet battle, but for general gameplay it handles it perfectly. If your system is a laptop, I would definitely be hooking it up to your bigger monitor whenever possible, as you should be able to manage all-high settings at 1080p easily.

that laptop is better than most desktops, way too powerful JUST to play eve. 2.8GHz dual core, SLI! dont expext much battery life though, it's a portable desktop. i got a 3.4GHz dual core and one gtx 260 and i handle 2 accounts side by side perfectly with full settings, you shouldn't worry. ps: get a mouse and headset, cause trackpad and build in speakers suck! this is the best mouse for laptop, just plug the reviver in and never have to take it out.

Nah, won't handle eve. You'll need at least 12gb RAM, and two of the new ATI 5970s in crossfire. Not to mention an Intel Core i7 940.
Don't listen to any of these other guys they don't know computers. -omg-

I guess that setup would work on lower settings. Don't expect playable 10+ man PVP fights though. To really experience EVE you need to go to Iceland and play on one of CCP's supercomputers

Edited by: Peryner on 13/12/2009 03:13:56 EDIT: before you read I just saw your comment that you'll hook it up to your TV, in that case what is the screen size? If it's like 14 inches, then that resolution is fine. If it's 17inches, your getting ripped off.
Edited by: Peryner on 13/12/2009 03:12:11
Quote: 17-inch WideXGA+ 1440x900
oh god , whats wrong with you. You don't even need that if your using that monitor. Get a 9600 GT get 4Gb of ram
get a duocore 2.4
If you goign to be running eve at 90 fps on that monitor that's all you'll need.
edit: read thread, your being ripped off, most laptops nowadays come with 1920x1080 screens.
Heres a much better laptop. http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_can_series.do?storeName=computer_store&category=notebooks&a1=Category&v1=High+performance&series_name=dv8tqe_series&jumpid=in_R329_prodexp/hhoslp/psg/notebooks/High_performance/dv8tqe_series
see now you've got a 1920x1080 screen at 16:9
And it's most likely cheaper to boot. Watch the site xp bargins to get like 10-20% form time to time.
plus honestly, you want a better cpu over more ram right now. the 400+ bucks you're spending to get 2 4GB ddr3 sticks is not as usefull as paying an extra 400$ to get a quad core 2.4/2.6
You can upgrade the ram alter, you'll never get a better cpu, and you'll never get a better screen.
Seriously, thogh, that laptop you posted is just pure ****, it's like putting a race car engine in a 3 wheel tricycle. why? Just because you can is NOT a good reason.

This.
General rule of gaming/computers...check the system requirements. If you have something with atleast 4x the minimum suggested system, don't post a thread asking how it'll run it.

Do you travel a lot, and want to play EVE in many locations? If so, a laptop might be worth it. Otherwise get a desktop. Are you planning to use it for other, more demanding games? If it's just for EVE, it's way overkill and you'll be wasting a lot of money.
