Edited by: Terranid Meester on 13/12/2009 19:07:25 Edited by: Terranid Meester on 13/12/2009 19:07:11 Basically it is this. You buy a booby trap and you put it in your cargohold. When/if you are blown up and the booby trap survives, the first person/enemy to open your wreck up for goodies gets a face full of pain. Enough to destroy a frigate/tech 2 frigate. Could even add negative side effects like booster side effects. The side effects would show in the augmentation panel and last say 40 minutes or so. You could even put it in your jetcans.
Could be constructed from a single torpedo/missile/bit of ammo and perhaps those parts you get from radar sites (second hand parts etc).

i like the idea but needs a little refining
for one it should have the potential to blow up any ship or at least critically damage any ship up to BS sized depending on how many "bombs" are in your cargo . also salvage scanners should have a Small chance of finding the bombs , if they do the wreck is marked and can no longer be salvaged ( or looted) or risk blowing up. as will probable be said by other these should not be small items , if you want the damage capacity to destroy ships bigger than frigs you should have to sacrifice a good deal of your cargo space to do it , so a Indy with 2000M3 of "bombs" would be able to take out a BS but Will only have a small amount of its cargo left .
this way while you may get the last laugh against the one who shot you you wont be able to move much while doing it

Edited by: Terranid Meester on 13/12/2009 20:37:49 I think cargo scanners would be a good way for detecting booby traps in cans and wrecks. Then use a codebreaker to deactivate any in the cargohold?
You could possibly stack booby traps in your cargohold & multiply the effect.

Edited by: Robert Caldera on 14/12/2009 01:07:02 this must have a serious backdraw (like high cargo volume + increased ship mass) preventing everybody from putting it into cargo.

I like the idea too. How about adding a tracer or a bug so you can catch the pilot "thief" that way?

Side Effects are nice. The bomb itself is not a good idea as it's bad to handle. CCP removed the mines because of this. But this one has potential. I hope you don't mind if I add my thoughts here.
How about this: Boobie Traps come in flavors - small, med, large - and you use a rig slot. For effects we could have a "virus program". So in the end you have a rig slot wasted with nothing..
So, how would it work? There would be four modules. One for each race (for invention). It will need some time till Aura finds the virus and disables it.
First, the Caldari. Since their enemies depend on Powergrid for the hybrid weapons, their virus program lowers the enemy's Power Output by 10% for 10 to 30 minutes (tech2 20 to 45 minutes). Second, the Gallente. Their enemies depend on CPU, so they developed a virus program that uses up 10% of the CPU capacity for 10 to 30 minutes (tech2 20 to 45 minutes) with useless calculations. Third, the Minmatar. Since their enemies use the capacitor to fire their lasers, the virus program lowers the capacitor size of the enemy by 10% for 10 to 30 minutes (tech2 20 to 45 minutes). Last, the Amarr. They always think that their numbers are enough to rival anything, and they constructed a devious program that works differently than the other three. When the Amarr virus strikes, the ship will become visible system-wide for 30 seconds to 2 minutes (tech2 45 seconds to 3 minutes). However, it will be of no use if you don't know where you left your trap since you can't warp there.
Now tell me - what do you think? |

interesting idea to say the least. only problem i see is that the OP idea was more of a way to make is so taht indys are no longer pinyatas to any one with a gun , theres a good chance that that loan indy flying through space is carrying more than just cargo and by that i mean a potentail to destroy your ship when you try to claim the goodys inside

That will not work. People will just open wrecks with alts in rookie ships.

I like to play this game because it make my in-game actions and archievments to mean something in-game. |

And people are going to always have an alt to open a wreck handy? What if there are multiple wrecks with booby traps and your alts rookie ships have been blown to bits and theres no station in system to get new rookie ships? Time is a commodity also and sometimes you need to quick to grab the loot. There will not always be an alt handy.
