I'm new to EVE, but since I started I've been having this issue.
Event: While playing EVE, my laptop goes into shutdown mode. Screen goes black, and within 30 seconds the laptop completely powers down. I can prevent a shutdown by sleeping my computer before the full shutdown finishes.
Circumstances: There are no common factors between the events except that it only happens when I'm playing EVE (hence the 'nearly'). It's happened when I've been in-station, scanning, flying, warping, fighting. It's happened when I've had one display going, it's happened when I've had two going. It's happened with just EVE up, and also when I've had EVE, iTunes, AIM, YIM, Chrome, and other programs going.
Easy questions: No, my laptop doesn't have trouble running EVE. I exceed the minimum requirements, and don't keep my graphics settings maxed. I have CPU & RAM meters running, and they never top out. It does not get hot. It's well ventilated and very cool at all times. There is no regular time interval. I've played all day and had zero events; today I played for an hour and had three. I've checked my Event Viewer and found nothing coinciding with any of the crashes in either Applications or System lists.
Computer specs: ASUS K50AB-X2 Notebook Win7 Home Premium x64 AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-75 2.2 GHz 4GB RAM ATI Radeon Mobility HD 4570
Please help me, you're my only hope.

Despite the laptop not getting hot, I'd make sure the fans are rotating free and there is no dust build up in the sinks. I'd also suggest making sure everything is bolted down properly.
I'd also suggest looking at different version of the Catalyst drivers. I've had some rather odd issues with ATi in the past.

I have a similar thing going on now. Reinstalling client hasnt fixed it. Machine locks up, maybe 6 or 7 times yesterday, and only with eve.

Hardware checked and fine.
I'm reluctant to fiddle with my graphics drivers because of an issue which only happens with one program of the many I use. It's entirely possible that by doing so I remove one problem and create two more.

I am having this problem too, but with my desktop. But it only does this if I have more than 1 client running. I can run one client all day; once i start a second client it will crash within 10 min. 3rd client will shut it down in about 7 mins.
Is this a power issue?
I did not have this problem till Dominion. I could run 4 clients all day till now.

Do you have your preset interval set to "1" or higher in the advanced graphics settings?

Set to 1 and see if that helps at all?
