It's exactly the same as the Core Probe Launcher except that it's Meta 4 and won't fit to anything other than the Zephyr.

I forsee people who get their Zephyers blown out from under them but manage to recover the Probe Launcher selling the Launcher for much ISK via contracts and causing many tears when the new owner can't fit it to his probe ship. :)

Does that mean the launcher can be unfit and some other module put in its place (cloak? warfare link? jump portal?)...
I can dream, can't I?

Seeing how is has no CPU or Powergrid, you could fit it, but it would stay offline.

300m/s seems awful slow for that thing, and no AB or MWD. Gonna be an absolute pain to fly.

I don't see how an AB or MWD would workeven if you could fit them as it doesn't have engines.

It uses Solar Winds to sail through space.. I'm not expecting Shuttle speeds from it.

What's this about sleepers not attacking it? And did I get an impression that this ship cannot be probed out?

Sleeper NPCs treat it as a pod, so they will not shoot it.
As for probing out, I guess thats a matter of looking on sig rad and sensor strenght ;) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm beginning to wonder if the Iris Probe launcher will make it easier to actually find wormholes. Would promote even more wormhole fun, which we all know and love.

So, I was thinking itĘs flawed for its intended use since it canĘt mwd out of bubbles but then realised if it uses solar winds, how does it warp anyway

Edited by: Simeon Tor on 16/12/2009 12:02:50 A lot of people seem to think this is some kind of dedicated scanning ship. It's really not.
It has no scanning bonii and the Iris launcher is the same as a core probe launcher. I'm getting the impression that it's just here to make it easier for people to learn to scan, that's why it can't be targetted by Sleepers.. to keep teh n00bzorz alive when they have no idea what's going on.
Bottom line is that if you know the basics of scanning, you should get a Cov ops instead.

Easy: It utilizes the POD's Warp-engine, since the ship itself is not that big. ;)

Decent idea CCP. Totally overrated and over-praised in the accompanying Dev Blog (I mean it's only a shuttle with worst available probe launcher) but I guess that's just the marketing division (like when they promised Dominion wouldn't suck).

1000 inertia modifier. What does that do? Shuttles only have 1, pods have 2 (basic).

Effective Mass = Inertia Modifier x Mass
Lower effective mass, more maneuverable it is.

And won't really affect wormhole's allowances.

As said already, the huge inertia modifier is just a workaround to make a VERY light ship be about as agile as a destroyer. ______________________________________________

Its not supposed to be a good ship, and is in fact supposed to have the least possible worth, so that CCP don't just give out free isk. Its a present, its pretty and its a nice thing for the players. Jesus they gave free **** so STFU.

25m and 6 points, which is exactly the same as a shuttle. Can you probe out a shuttle? Then you can probe out a Zephyr.
Shuttle's mass is 1,600,000kg. Zephyr is just 5,000kg, which I believe is even less than a pod. So the Zephyr should actually warp faster than a pod. Good luck catching one in Empire.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot: ZEPHYR BLOWS

I'm reading that datum on the info sheet as 1 point zero zero zero, not one thousand. You sure there's no decimal there? -- He said "The President is near."

Captain Muscles agrees with this statement.
The ship is meant mostly to be a novelty. The fact that it will not be targeted by sleepers gives it a unique ability that nothing else has. If this thing was better than any other ship for probing, then explorers across New Eden would wtfemoragequit because their scanner ship was made useless by a FREE GIFT given to EVERYBODY.
Basically it is a camera-ship made for taking photos of sleepers in their natural habitat. Allow me to be the first to say: "And here we see the Sleeper Warden resting in the ruins of his long-lost society. Now I'm gonna stick my thumb up it's butthole... Crikey, he's mad now!"
