WTF? I was having random disconnects, then Dominion came out and they completely went away for weeks.
Now with this new patch, they're back. Completely random, and half the time the client doesn't even notice. Right now I can type in cor chat but not hit enter, evemails won't come up.... The client thinks it's connected, but isn;t.
VERY frustrating using the Mac client lately. Getting ridiculous.
Also, I finished typing this sentence a full 30 seconds before it showed up in Firefox. This only happens when Eve is running.

Same thing is happening to me.
After the last crash just now I got: "buffer overrun!"
can't stay logged in for more than a minute.

Now I can't even log back in for a half a second before I get an exception raised error then crash. Can't play yet I'm paying for it??
so....what's ah....what's the deal here?

For no reason whatsoever... crashes have begun again for this computer... Any time a profile (portrait) needs to be updated, it seems to crash giving the "socket closed" error. This has happened twice, and by resetting the caches makes it nearly impossible to relog in. (Crashes when generating the pilot portraits as well)
This coupled with the EVE api being down makes it nearly impossible to play ~_~.

Got the same probem on the latest MBP at the time of this message.
After loosing a few hundred million in transport ships thinking I'm cloaked and safe I've stopped doing anything but manage R&D, Marketing and the Corporation.
Anything requiring flying around I just hit a web cafT...
They ask me to bug report, but when this sudden silent disconnection happens there's no error logs to be found. ________________________________

Hi, You might want to reset your cache and/or preferences. I know it's a pain, but sounds like you might have some corruption there. I've been very stable with my MacbookPro, ymmv.
Good luck!

I have encountered problems like this before, but only because I was playing using an ethernet port connection to a DSL modem, and someone calls in using skype.

I've started experiencing this on mine and my wife's iMacs in the last couple of days. Disconnect (often unnoticed by us for a few seconds/minutes) followed by the buffer overrun message upon quitting the application. Extremely frustrating and difficult to reproduce. -------------- We specialize in building T1, T2 ships, drones, ammo, fittings and rigs. Also building tengu and proteus gear now! Still happening. Tonight I was ratting, everything was working fine, then I noticed I couldn't activate my shield booster. My grouped missiles launchers were flashing as if active, but nothing was being fired.
I had to relog, and came back to the last of my Ogre IIs being popped.
Really frustrating.

I've been getting the disconnects again myself. I just now got kicked off, I think it said something like the socket was closed, but it was hard to see because the window didn't show long before my whole computer became unresponsive. Macbook pro, OS 10.5.8 |

Same here!!
Doing a mission, zoomed out view started firing at my targets and sent in the drones, then got it hang and the screen started flashing. I've had it pop a window saying buffer overrun! without an actual debug window.

Same here, started after 1.1, but for the life of me I can't figure out why. I can't even enter a bug report as I don't have half the info it is seemingly so random.

CCP, you listening? This is happening 3-4 times a day.
It's gotten to the point where I don't even carry drones anymore, because I lose them too often. Thank God I'm not Gallente.
The Cier client seems to be having network issues. PLZ TO BE FIXING.

I've been working for software companies for over 15 years now. The last thing I want to do when I come home from work to play a game is write up a detailed bug report.
But, of course, I did. Meh.
It happened 4 times already today. Driving me nuts.

The thing is.. there are so many problems around cider right now it's hard to sift through which one a player is experiencing. I get the socket error as often as I get the cider buffer overrun error. The buffer overrun is something that needs to be fixed by CCP, who are perfectly capable of taking a random Mac, installing EVE, and PLAYING THE GAME. If they played the game on a mac, they would be able to file their own stinking error reports and figure this out so much faster than telling us to do this over and over again.
When I run the cider error log, I get about 1.5 frames a second, it might take a half hour sometimes to hit an error.. I'm not accepting that, because it's unacceptable. Now if CCP wanted to pay me to do that, or reimburse the "quality" game time that I'm wasting in search of their bugs, that would be different, but I have a life.
If CCP fixes the cider buffer errors that keep popping up, it would be easier to narrow down the other errors.. or maybe they would even simply go away with that error, it's possible that one error is linked to the other.
I'm once again on the verge of using bootcamp. Has CCP ever said WHY they won't make a native client?

Yeah so just thought I'd add my gripe to the pile...
frequent disconnects, sometimes "socket closed" errors, more often just disco'ed without knowing it. Often once it starts happening, it'll happen over and over again as I try to rescue my forlorn Ogre II's
And I'm with Disco Jack, I don't have time to bug-hunt all evening. Wish I did.

Three more times tonight. I was connected all afternoon without incident, then within the last 3 hours it's happened 3 times.
The last two times I logged in, jumped across a system, got to the gate, and had no connection.
The second time I even got a Traffic Control message even though I had completely lost my connection.
No status update on my bug report.

I seem to be getting these now too. The client thinks it is still connected, but is not. I seem to get the problem when I am also doing other things on the machine like watching youtube or, ironically, typing in forum response boxes like this one. I will never get over how badly cider and firefox clash when it comes to text entry boxes....
Anyway.. yeah, hitting me too now. I think I would not mind so much if CCP implemented something to retrieve drones on disconnect. I never understood why they keep shooting down that idea.
Right now it is so bad that if I connect one client, wait for the ship to return to it's old spot, then start up my second client, the first one is already disocnnected by the time the second one gets out of emergency warp return.

The last week I've been disconnecting a lot. Two clients, same issue. Cleared cache, didn't work one bit. This is really a pain when your alliance is at war and as CEO of one of the corps I am expected to be on the front lines, but I can't trust my client to stay online... This really is a pain, I want to lose some ships (I suck at PVP), but not because of random disconnects.
