Edited by: funkeymunky on 20/12/2009 19:02:42 Where is the discussion area for lag issues? We have some serious problems with dominion. 170 in system in fleet sitting on a gate waiting for a larger fleet to drop on us. Neutrals, reds, even our own pilots jumping into system are not loading for over 5 minutes. Lag was nowhere near this bad with Apoc. 3-4 hundred pilot fights with capitals had lag but this makes it impossible for typical 0.0 fleets to engage.
From what I have heard in alliance CCP's answers in general to bug reports on this is their records don't show any problem yet it's happening. So I guess we need to prove it's happening?
We have begun to record the events with fraps and other applications complete with time counters on them. Should we post on YouTube and link in here to get the ball rolling to fix the problem?
PS. We have began a completely new tatic for dominion to protect systems under attack. 1. Let enemy reinforce towers. 2. 4-5 hours before they come out of reinforce we move fleet into system and pre-load grid. 3. Enemy is having same lag issue so they don't bring their fleet in because it's a turkey shoot with none of them ever loading system change. 4. We have traded hours of pos bashing with hours of pre-loading system... I'm not sure which is worse.

You obviously fail to understand how EVE actually works, your system is on a node tht it might share with several other systems, there is no way apart from advanced warning that you can shift a system to its own node it requires a reboot, unplanned battles are a pain but if you insist on having them be prepared for lag, same applies to people moaning that the system they are in with only 1 person is lagging, you're not really alone :P Rally Against Evil Site |

The responses to this topic have explained the reson for this known issue and a workaround for a handful of cases. I too would love to have this truly fixed, but this seems unlikely due to eve,s basic architecture.
Advance notice for fleet fights? What is this, the US civil war? Shall we also line our ships up in neat rows and columns and blast away at each other without maneuvering? I'm sure this could also allow for more programming hacks to reduce lag.
After a few bad experiences with large fleet fights, I consider this (arguably keystone) element of eve broken. I'll stick to small gangs from now on.

They should have known 90% of the players will only feel safe with a huge blob of ships and put in heavy penalties for anyone using more than say 100 ships fielded per side.
Would be complicated but would also be based on human behaviour, ie more people like to hide in a blob than pvp.

^ This.
This "tell us in advance" is just a bad joke... This worked ok when we had 2-3 day POS timers to plan fights around... but CCP just removed this functionality.
