So, I was talking to a corp mate the other day, and he had been in the PSHome thing talking to people about Dust. Some players did not realise that Dust and EVE are not just in the same universe, but are going to be one game (from a techish stand point, as there on the same servers).
I am thinking that CCP may need to put out a few trailers about the mechanics of the game, rather than more game play. Ala, how someone in EVE makes money of someone in DUST buying stuff, or how things connect more. I think this would go a long way to making people understand that the game is not stand-alone, and is actually, literally, part of the EVE universe.
Also, *Insert standed rant about haveing no Beta Key here* :P |

As I understand it, the actual link between Dust and EVE still hasn't been finalised yet Malcanis' Law: Any proposal justified on the basis that "it will benefit new players" is invariably to the greater advantage of older, richer players.

Well they do have the orbital bombardment card they've been playing to a reasonable extent. But they can always educate more of the masses. We do need something to shoot after all. http://www.dust514.org - the unofficial forum for everything DUST 514 http://www.dust514base.com - the blog site with everything else DUST 514 you need

Watch the recent E3 trailer. It shows an orbital strike.
The only 3 game mechanics that are confirmed going to be interlaced with each other 1-Market 2-Merc Contracts 3-Orbital Strikes.
All the other stuff is still somewhat on the drawing board as to how it will work exactly. (from what I understand)

This makes me want to go to PSHome and teach the people over there more about Eve Online. It would be nice if more of us would do the same to make sure that these console players are well informed about the dark, harsh, and brutal nature of New Eden and how the market in DUST will one day be strictly player-controlled like Eve is. This way, if something big goes down, they won't be surprised.
We already have enough players coming to Eve Online not knowing how dangerous it is out here and then end up quitting before learning how to adapt. It's best to make sure we train new comers to DUST on how to adapt so that they won't be like "OMGWTFBBQ-GOT-STEAMROLLED/SCAMMED/MARKETBURN" when they start the game. Adapt or Die |

I think CCP are doing an ok job so far with the new totorials. I think the main probom for players is when there done, there thinking more quests, but thats not how EVE works. I think CCP need to have a range of videos that get linked to in the totorals that explain what you can do in EVE, and how big players make a differnce in it compared to something like WoW. |

I've been arguing this with people on the Dust forums since day 1. The number of "I'm not actually an Eve player" people over there (on both the beta forums and unofficial forums) makes me question how CCP is selecting people, and what type of audience they want. But whatever.
Though we really /don't/ know exactly how Eve and Dust will interact, the biggest issue I foresee is ISK. Dust players probably won't be prepared for how large of an effect the EVE economy may have on their gameplay... we can't entirely predict that it will, but it seems more than likely. |

Based on a lot of the information out there, and the lack of advertisement so far, I would say that CCP's push for Dust has yet to really begin. I think the education piece will come with the advertisement in some clever way. I expect to see some trailers and some video tutorials or something out on the PSN before this is released and that will go a LONG way towards helping to bring PS-gamers up to speed on just how big of a deal Dust really is. |

I have to agree. Each trailer that has been released so far has shown slightly more features. The latest trailer teased orbital strikes and the link between Dust 514 and EVE in the universe. I think by the time Dust is released or in public beta (if there is one) all the Dust Bunnies will be well informed! |

Like EVE Dust will retain a very specific kind of FPS'r
Alot of people have been making the same argument that like other FPS on console, there will be a big Boom of users at release and a gradual decline and much smaller peaks at expansion releases.
What they dont talk about is the gradual burn. In eve we didnt magically get to 500,000 users over night, it was slow build up till present day.
I believe that after the boom, decline, and during the little spikes of activity Dust will gradually pull in more FPS'r as they gain a better understanding of the game what it has to offer and how its connection makes it an incredibly unique experience. Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.comI Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. I just hope CCP has the backbone to face the throne of Battlefield's self proclaimed "elders".. They are a horrible bunch, the whiniest, vocal minority of loosers that demand FPS's be made exactly their way and insist they are the elders of their community because they played the beta of Battlfield 1942.. |

As far as I'm aware, anyone who's involved with planetry industry runs the risk of having their planets overtaken by Dust players who might even be acting entirely of their own volition, and not under any contract. |

That would be a terrible, nonsense game mechanic. Bunnies should set planetary infrastructure into a damaged, vulnerable state. It should require an orbital bombardment (IE cooperative play between Bunnies and Capsuleers) to actually destroy someone's planetary stuff. Rabble Rabble!! |
