How come that u can get away with logging of when under attack? Getting a bit sad when not being able to blow that Navy Mega up.
My gang = 4x BS 2x HIC¦s and 2x Logistic¦s. We are flying in low sec.
We all sit on a gate when a Blinky (outlaw) Navy Mega pilot land on the gate with another Blinky Myrmidon.
Our HIC 1 point the Megathron and 2 of our BS agress him to force him to jump or fight. He decide that jump is a good option. Great we have 2x BS and a HIC that is not agressed and jumps after him.
He loggs of before the jump-cloak is broken (30 sec). When he is decloaked, he is already logged of. But ofc we point him on the other side... We smack it a bit on Vent, but yay a mega kill atleast.
But WOOT. He disapears since we did not kill him within 30 sec or something. What is up with that, we agressed him and we should have atleast 15min to kill him eh?
That is quite sad way of getting out from "smaller" gangs that dont drop your ship within a few seconds.

Aggression timers are limited to the system the aggression happened in. He jumped into a new system where he had no aggression so he could safely log off.
(I don't support the way this works nor what the pilot did, I'm just explaining it) ___________________

I don't believe that is actually what happened. I have aggressed a Ferox earlier this week, he burned back to the gate, jumped, and immediately logged off. I was able to wait out the gate hostilities timer (1 minute), jump through and probe him out. I successfully probed him out at the emergency warp safe spot (13 minutes afterwards, I had to refit a probe launcher). He stayed for another two minutes and disappeared , I didn't have enough dps to kill him in under 2minutes with the probe launcher attached.

1) The system is buggy, I outlined how it should and usually works.
2) He could easily have aggressed in the system he logged off in prior to jumping through to you - this aggression would still be active and does not get 'cleared' simply because he jumped into you. ___________________

Um... I just tried it with my alt, and the alt stayed in space until the aggression timer ended (15 minutes). The alt only aggressed me in the original system; it did not aggress anyone else, anywhere else.

Logoff tactics during battle is dishonourable and spineless.
Be a stand-up character and just don't do it.

Who's more of an idiot, the navy mega who logged off or these people saying that he should have taken the fight just because of some perceived chivalric code?
I'll agree that it's a badly designed mechanic but neutral RR, using massive ecm support when ganking people, noob alt plexing and other lame tactics are rife in eve and the people who understand how to use the game to their advantage will win out over "stand-up characters" who would loose a fight rather than fight dirty.

It's a horribly ****ty mechanic, if you are pointed your ship should NEVER vanish, while your logged on OR off --------------------------------------------

Doesn't your ship just sit in place when you log off?

Had this happen to me once. Probed down a hostile Typhoon that logoffski'd after killing a blue. Pointed it, starting shooting it, called in the rest of the fleet. Not 2 seconds after the fleet lands on grid does the Typhoon disappear right in front of me. You could imagine the reaction. On another note, I also have an annoying sig.

If he didn't change systems then you had 15 minutes to kill him, if you couldn't probe him down in that time period then its perfectly fine. ---

1 Navy mega
vs
4x BS 2x HIC¦s and 2x Logistic¦s.
is this a definition of "battle"?
To me it looks one of nowadays "easy PLEX money" "regular" ganks.
Had it been 1 vs 1 or even 2 vs 1 then it'd be a "battle".
Edit: the guy got aggressed but for what I read he did not aggress so by changing system he got reset and no penalty timer and so he could logoffsky at once (what is it, 1 minute default no-aggress timer, isn't it?). - Auditing and consulting
