I was there when they announced it. I was there when the first pictures and video surfaced on TenTonHammer. I was there when they presented it at FanFest. I posted on the Features and Ideas Discussions forums in all the WiS threadnoughts.
I come back at the end of the year, the announced ETA only to find out it's missing and people are no longer talking/ excited about it. Wtf happened to Ambulation? Where's our walking in stations? Where are our beautiful conference rooms and personal quarters?
CCP, i am disappoint.

Go look up Incarna, which is what WIS is known as now, supposedly scheduled for release next winter.
Here's the teaser trailer from fanfest ------------------------------------------------ You either need a punch up the throat or a good shag.

Edited by: James Forest on 23/12/2009 20:50:51 They are possibly making it tied to the criminal underworld as you will be disconnected from the CONCORD network. It's also now called "Incarna" and there was a trailer with lighting tech demo at this years fanfest: teaser. This is the tech demo with details: tech demo. The release they said is Dominion>Planetary Interaction>Incarna>DUST 514.

Actually they have never given an ETA for Incarna (WIS).
The closest they have come is given a rough idea of what order they would like to release things in, and even that is not set in stone.

Incarna/WiS/Ambulation is not even on the Vaporware Top 10 list, so no need to hurry. CCP allways said, it'll "come out when it's ready". Not even soonÖ or something. Relax.

Edited by: Fulbert on 23/12/2009 22:13:04 Second Life in space is the last of the concerns of average EVE online players, IMHO. Despite its horrible UI and rebuking math stuff, EVE is incredibly immersive. Incarna maybe a nice feature (some 21st century version of ingame channels), but it is NOT the Holy Grail that will protect EVE against its competitors. Originality is the strategic superiority of EVE against all MMO games, all of them.
And might I say, the whole "EVE is dyingggg... Star Trek Online will certainly attract all EVE players[...]" is pointless - sounds to me like WoW whiners announcing for years the unavoidable triump of xxxx (insert here some recent MMORPG name : LOTRO, Warhammer Online...). It's quite simple : I like EVE because it have its own background. I don't want to play in an universe based on a seventies' TV show and its 20 spinoffs and movies.
If CCP gives high priority to new contents and rebalancing stuff, it makes sense. And by "new" i mean : - T3 equipment beyond Strategic Cruisers (Frigs? modules? fifth subsystems of SCs?) - Planetary interaction (= Industry expansion?) - Development of iHubs (T2 Hubs? New upgrades?) - New regions of space (0.0 systems accessible only by interstellar drives? supergates?) - More and more T2 ships! new T2 BCs and BSs! -------------------------------- Fulbert. When faction warfare was announced for the next expansion after Exodus(We promise! says ccp :P) I made a new account and started training it up immediately. He had nearly 40 mil sp when it finally hit and I even trained up a decent hulk pilot on one slot and a freighter/trade pilot on the other before fw finally went live.

I've always thought the rumors about CCP coding ambulation for that werewolves/vampire game (and seriously, way to miss the Dollar Expre$$ by not having it ready to take advantage of all this twilight ****) were probably right. I sort of never thought we'd ever see ambulation.

Walking in Stations is a load of un-needed ****, unless they do something Useful with it, most people will probably turn it off if they can, using the old interface to fit ships/Cargo Management etc
Until they tell us what we will actually be able to do with WiS, it is a Waste of Time and Resources that would be better spent on fixing the current game, rather than expanding it in an un-needed direction.

You could probably move some of the current eve features into stations, that currently don't work very well.
For instance, transferable kill rights? Perhaps the only way you could do this would be to undock and meet in person.
Collecting bounties. Perhaps you have to deliver the corpse in person.
I'm not really sure if you need WiS to do this. However it just adds to the immersion. I got nothing against it, as long as it doesn't detract from the current gameplay.

Looking forward to this, hopefully this and likes of DUST514 will arrive around the same time. If its all done and done well, it will certainly flesh out (Pun not intended) the EVE universe even more. Bring it on I say.
Not that fussed about walking in station at the mo, Dust has my intrest more. I just hope the 360 / PS3 folks get a bit more intergration at launch with the EVE universe than just a simple chat box. I would like to see their war barges zipping around at least planet to planet rather than have them just "appear" on world. Dangling that carrot in front of the fanbois to give them an acutal way to have an actual PS3 / 360 console war should make for intresting times.
Esp letting the demended rabbid drooling kids have at it with their whole "PS3 / 360 is teh suckkzzzoorrz!" Well just as long as CCP dont let them on the EVE forums as well

Can I point out that if your are 'barely using your keyboard now' you're doing it wrong? I mean, you CAN technically play EvE mouse only and use voice chat, but the keyboard + mouse is just so efficient...

Ah, that makes sense. I missed any formal announcement about Interbus, but then they'd been promising it since beta so they may have just decided to quietly drop it. Interbus is really just the oldest example that came to mind of **** that was promised for a long while and never actually made it into the game.

Well, serious about fashion in games, at least. That's probably for the vampires and werewolves, and really, if wis were closer, wouldn't they already need someone on staff? If they're still hiring, I'm thinking tritanium-based sportswear is probably a good long way off (thank the falling pope and little baby santa).
I forgot about that until just now--customizable fashion for our characters and the whole discussion about adding garment construction skills. And suddenly any desire I had to log in today is gone! --

Edited by: Astria Tiphareth on 25/12/2009 17:33:45 They'll release it when it's ready - which would you prefer? A half-baked technology demo (albeit the technology they've shown is very cool) or a properly integrated addition to the EVE universe that's actually useful? The latter takes time. They've got the graphics engine, they've got walking around, but they now have to make it a part of the game in a way that allows it to work with, yet not co-depend on, the rest of EVE (in the same way they're doing with DUST 514) and arguably that's just as tough. I wouldn't worry - you don't invest that kind of time, effort and money into a research project like that and just do nothing with the results.
Originally by: Ryhss Please CCP, DO NOT ADD AMBULATION I play Eve to get away from awsd keyboard games. I barely use my keyboard now so please, just don't.
From the tiny minimal information yet visible about Ambulation, the entirety of what you can currently do in EVE will remain available in EVE in the same way it always has. You won't have to ambulate, in the same way you won't have to play DUST 514, or have to own planetary districts. It's about connecting separate gaming concepts into the same virtual universe - you won't have to do all of them to have a good time. ___ My views may not represent those of my corporation, which is why I never get invited to those diplomatic parties... Jeez, what is it with this community and all it's whiny little nay-sayers? Who the hell are you to even think you have the first clue whether it's "needed" or not. Wormholes weren't needed either. Neither are faction ships. For that matter, who needs skills anyway?
And why is it too complicated for some people to understand that you can put only so many people on any given issue. "Too many cooks..." Not to mention the right people. But hey, let's just send everyone else at CCP on vacation while the five people qualified to fix your specific little problems are doing their job. Right. -
