Hey all!
I was simply wondering if anyone has purchased the Naga Razor and is currently using it for Eve.
Do all the macro buttons work for Eve commands?
Thanks

Brilliant mice. That latest drivers are better than the included drivers. The new ones allow you to remap any key combination. Whereas the drivers which come with the mouse only allow you to remap to number and number pad numbers.
So says my CEO anyway.

Razor products get a big thumbs down for me.
I used the Razor Barracuda headset, and I had three break on me. I called the company each time explaining the defect and how it could be fixed. I sent it back, they replaced it. Each time, the same issue happened and the headsets busted.
After the 3rd set, I said screw it, went down to Best Buy and bought a wireless headset. Best buy I've ever had. |

I've never had any problems with Razer products. Generally I've found them to be pretty good quality. Steelseries on the other hand are the best I've used. Their cheap headphones are just that - cheap. Not very good. But the more expensive ones are great value for money. But their mice are by far the best of them all :)
My current headset is CRAP. Speedlink Medusas suck the big one. At first I got the USB ones. The cable kept coming loose from the in-line controller. The second set I got were not USB (although they were powered by USB). They broke where the headband and the earpiece meet. And that is exactly the same problem I'm having with my third set.
Needless to say, I'll not be buying another set of medusas. Pure crap. Steelseries / Icemat ftw. I have a specific comb for my beard. |

I have the Naga as well. I don't use it much for EVE but yes the macro buttons do work for commands in the game, sometimes handy to have align and your slots assigned to one of the buttons but I kept hitting the keyboard shortcut before thinking so I stopped using it in EVE after a while.

I have a Naga mouse, as well.
I don't really use it for EVE though. In fact, I don't really use the buttons that much in any game.
I was a little irked at spending so much money on what I thought was a niche mouse, but I absolutely love the feel of the mouse. I've tried probably a hundred mouses, and this was the only one that fit my hand perfectly.
I think it was worth it just for that, even if I don't use all the little bells an whistles.

I've found the buttons to be more worthwhile in duplicating the numbers on the keyboard for fps games than mmo ones, it makes switching between weapons quicker and allows your other hand to stay on the movement keys.
Definitely agree on it being one hell of a comfortable mouse.

Razer products are not only crap, they also always cost about twice as much as similar quality products from Logitech or other manufacturers who know how to make hardware that actually works.

I had a Razer Lachesis and that was one crappy mouse!
The first problem was that the buttons were so hard to press so you unavoidingly moved the mouse at the same time if you had a good low friction mouse pad. Double klicking in windows was pretty much impossible as you always moved the icon instead of clicked it.
It also had problems with the pointer jumping around. New drivers solved that somewhat, but it was not entirely fixed.
The nail in the coffin was when the outer ring of the mouse wheel came off the inner wheel, meaning the wheel didn't scroll any more.
In short, I have never bought such expensive crap in my entire life.
After that I bought a Roccat Kone that dropped the mouse wheel after two weeks of careful usage. It just plunged straight down into the mouse and stopped working, appearantly a common problem with that line of mice. Once again I wasted a lot of money on crap.
Now I have a Logitech G9, and while it's shape does look a bit strange, it's very comfortable and robust. No problems with software or hardware.

I have a Razer Tarantula keyboard that I'm still using after my Optimus Maximus broke down. Its never missed a beat.
I've had issues with Razer mice though. I've had two Deathadders that randomly died due to corrupt firmware that I had to RMA, as they were just bringing up the "A USB Device Has Malfunctioned And Cannot Be Recognised" in Windows.
They replaced it after the second one with a Razer Lachesis, and I've never had an issue since.

Edited by: Spiritualhawk on 24/03/2010 21:16:06 i'm sorry but all the haters in here haven't owned the naga, or they wouldn't be talking smack.
i own the naga, its an amazing mouse. you aren't limited to any single key, you can remap all the keys on the naga to your hearts content. additionally it feels perfect in your hand, couple it with a razer vespula, and you're gonna love it
to the ones who have had razer problems suck it.
everyone has problems, i had similar issues with logitech over the years; whining about an old mouse that you didn't rma like you shoulda, just makes YOU look like the idiot, btw my personal suggestion: get the naga. its the best mouse out there. period. if you need a mousepad, get the vespula.
macros work like a charm. no problems. all the buttons on your keyboard are additionally configurable, any single way you want. i personally set my 1 - 12 keys on my naga to F1 - F12, and it works great, the macro program makes sense, isn't hard to understand, and can be done on the fly. hope that answers the OP'S questions.

The macros work fine - and most especially they work with OSX. It is the only keyboard add-on I've found that works properly with the mac os client. The Logitech G13 does not allow use of the Control and Alt toggles which severely limit the keyboard shortcut configuration.
Control is good - I like the ability to toggle settings with my thumb while assigning targets. I've set the 12 side buttons on the Naga to the F1-F12 keystroke - so the Hi slots are Immediately available (1-8) and the remaining shortcuts I can easily configure from the Eve game options console, which allow the addition of the Ctrl Alt and Shift with any other key combination (but most often used with F1-F12 in the Eve default Keyboard shortcuts.)
I have a medium sized hand and this mouse fits and feels better than any I've used. The sensitivity seems superior than the latest apple magic mouse I've bee using, and the on-the-fly sensitivity setting works great.

Dont own one, dont want one (looks like useless to me, both for eve and fps), however:
Quote: additionally it feels perfect in your hand
No it feels perfect in YOUR hand. Those things are really personal.

I've found that once you go 2000 DPI, you can't go back - It's not "Play through a pre-set story, become stronger, do endgame". Gameplay is open ended, and you make your own story. Unless you're too afraid of 'pvp grief' to do anything relevant |

I just got mine, and although there is a bit of work setting up the macros, you can have ungrouped guns (waaay better for pvp) set it all up for drones to engage with one button etc it is great. do it, get it! Forget all these razer na-sayers the naga is great and my three year old razer mouse for meh mac is great still too, you wont regret. right clicking every god-damn-thing in eve gets a bit old, this bad boy fixes everything, you can sit back in your chair and forget about even touching the keyboard!

Razer Diamondback 3G here. Best mouse I've ever owned, hands down. Had it for 3 years, and had the normal Diamondback 2 years before that. ---
