Eve Rules of engagement favors Pirates....
Ever found yourself quietly mining in a high security system to buy that new ship/module or skill...only to have a swarm of suicidal pirates warp in and attack your mining ship, knowing full well that they will lose their own ships in the process but costing you hundreds of millions of ISK?
PvP and danger is part of Eve but this loophole opens the door to a really strange breed of player. My view is that if you want to fight, go to a low sec system and pick a fight with an opponent capable of fighting back. Where is the achievement in running a suicidal mission against a relatively defenseless target in high Sec space? I guess for people who have low self worth in the real world it is an achievement. Hurting other people or for example animals just for the hell of it...hints at the sociopath. CCP should tighten up on this. Why is that Pirates can pass through CCP stations gates and ships without immediately being engaged? As I understood the ROE of EVE all Pirates were subject to attack from CCP on sight, thus relegating them to low sec space....also providing the incentive NOT to launch unprovoked attacks in high sec space. Just seems pointless to me.
Minimum, CCP should pod kill the players when they arrive and engage and the costs of the ship they attacked be deducted from The players involved accounts.
If you want to PvP go to low sec and attack at will....or is that just to much of a challenge?

Edited by: Taiberian on 03/01/2010 17:09:03 There are other threads open with the same issue right now due of the Hulkageddon, so you can go there and get a hint about what's going on and what people think about it.
But if you want to know my opinion..
CCP won't give a sh*t about suicide ganking unless this makes them lose subscriptions en masse.
Now, they have more than 300K. If, say, after 4-6 month subscriptions drop to 200K and they find out that's because of the suicide gankers.. sure they'd take part.
Nowadays gankers have a little impact in EVE universe.
so, if you want CCP to take part.. start the quit-party, or become a ganker your-self.
edit: due to even more horrible grammar than now.

Suicide ganking is a relatively minor problem. You can avoid becoming a victim easily. I cba to reiterate the steps you take...

Are you implying that I'm alt posting or creating them by exploding innocent carebears? The former is an action I have never undertaken... The later I am preparing for but won't be doing anything until next week.

Yes? Though the specific alt poaster could be one of any of the current organizers of the event. I'm simply picking on you because you are vocal and never pass up a chance to make a responce.

This is what would be called in the marketing sector an advertising campaign to show that there is a market for your product. ie nerdy entitled carebears who make silly threads about wanting no risk and so drum up popular support for you killing them in the upcoming hulkageddon. Standard eve trick that the goons mastered long ago.

The only thing CCP should change is that paying insurance for high sec aggression makes no sense.
Beyond that OP is missing the point. As soon as you leave the station there is no absolute 100% safety - and that's what makes EVE the great game it is. Don't worry about what the motivation is for the gankers - they do it for some reason. From your point of view it boils down that there are some risks and you have to deal with them. As the resident troll-hugger, I feel obliged to answer. Originally by: EQUIANO My view is that if you want to fight, go to a low sec system and pick a fight with an opponent capable of fighting back.
Well, your view is not EVE's view. In this game, the rule is that if you don't want a fight, you don't undock.
Quote: Why is that Pirates can pass through CCP stations gates and ships without immediately being engaged?
Because the players choose not to engage them.
Quote: As I understood the ROE of EVE all Pirates were subject to attack from CCP on sight, thus relegating them to low sec space.
They're subject to attack from anyone on sight, which makes travel in highsec… well, not that different from travel in lowsec or nullsec, tbh, except that you get automated police response as an added bonus.
Quote: Minimum, CCP should pod kill the players when they arrive and engage and the costs of the ship they attacked be deducted from The players involved accounts.
NPCs don't pod players – only players are allowed to deliver that kind of punishment. If CONCORD or the navies started podding people, it would only be reasonable that belt- and mission rats do the same, and we don't want that, now do we? ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Your right, Eve is all about risk...that's what makes the game. My point is this, risk should apply to all....including gankers. If a player chooses to become a Ganker/Pirate/Hulkageddon participant...it should entail a degree of risk, namely, risk of immediate attack from CCP on sight. So no access to CCP stations, gates etc in high Sec. Where is the risk in randomly attacking non PvP rigged mining ships...?
Surely it would balance the risk /danger/challenge of doing this if a Ganker managed to 'run the blockades' as it were, of CCP gates, stations and patrols, elude all of CCP infrastructure before finding a miner and pouncing....THEN respect is due. I would say fair play, this player clearly has got skills and truly is an 'outlaw' worthy of respect. Risk is part of the game....I say rebalance the risk. You wanna be an outlaw? Ok great nice. Here is the risk that comes with it....
Any douche bag can pounce on a relatively defenseless miner. No challenge at all. No skill involved. No respect is due.

The rules of enagagement have to favor pirates because if the favor defenders, piracy wont get done. So if the game chooses to focus on lawless, pirate actions, those that are defenders in that case will suffer. It was a design decision, and it works for them since they choose to market the game as they do.
It may not be good for the non-pirates, but we aren't the focus of the game. EVE is a wolf preserve, and every wolf preserve needs to be stocked with deer to keep them happy.

So let me get this straight....
I'm mining in my hulk, who's worth has been artificially inflated by suicide gankers. Then it gets suicide ganked. 8 pirates suicide me, they all lose their ships except one. They cost me 20 hours of game time and gain nothing.
The people who would laugh at and ridicule someone making a complaint about that are 10 years old emotionally.
If you want to be a pirate thats fine. If you want to be a fail suicide bomber online thats pathetic.

you sir are a dumbass. i can fit a thorax for less then 6mil including ship, i then proceed to to insure it, set my high sec alt next to your shiny hulk, run the gate, warp to shiny hulk, blow it up, run away in pod, salvage and loot with alt. how am i NOT making money may i ask? and I think that you are the whinny 10 year old, either do something about the gankers or stop crying. On second thoughts keep crying as i said before, carebear tears are the sweetest!

No, you cant. It was literally 9 parties involved. I have 2 accounts and can salvage my own wreck, they got literally zero and lost 8 ships. If you proceed with your scenario you will not receive profit of any sort.
