this is gonna be a rant
I've been following EVE on and off since 2003. I'm mostly a pvp-oriented kind of guy, tho I do my share of carebearing in 0.0. For the first 5 years I had fairly good hopes that CCP would do the right things. Even tho my idea of what's right doesn't always match CCP's idea, in general things were agreeable, but always strained - most problems take 6-9 month to get noticed by CCP, which is rather frustrating for serious player.
In recent years things started changing more erratically, important game design decisions were made at what seems to be totally random choice.
At same time, long standing fundamental flaws of the game were ignored - no more 6-9 month fixes. CCP totally dropped the ball on these issues: *) ship insurance *) log off exploits *) local channel *) level 4's in high sec
Those have been an issue for over 3 years at least. There're a bunch of smaller but long lasting issues: specific pvp changes that discourage solo pvp, never-ending buffing of defensive abilities, problems with faction warfare, problems with sov mechanics. These are the things CCP tried to change, but their changes don't follow the old style EVE theme of a hardcore open ended game. Their design decisions no longer follow sound logic and statistics. I don't even know what they are following now. I no longer look forward to new patches, as they most likely dissappoint me. |

Yawn, did you not notice that they killed a big PvP alliance a few year back? Are you that slow on the uptake?

Well, with all of the problems with EVE clearly defined here, it's just a matter of time before CCP reads it and addresses them.

I kind of got the idea the OP is kinda irked at CCP. Anyone else find this the case? |

Because you know better than CCP obviously, they should make you CEO and let you run things from now on.

Eve is dying!!
(since the beginning)
But joking aside, the op is pretty much right. I can't see that much sense in the recent expansions (supercapitals anyone?) and it seems to me that lots of things are just 'done' without running proper numbers first or checking the (long term) consequences. The approach is more like 'lets do it and see what the players will do with it' which is not that bad if you do it carefully and with sense, but if you lack common sense then it can go pretty bad.
CCP needs to watch out and be more excellent.

Damn dude. There was a player here a few weeks ago called Tuscan nebu--something and he had an all out slug fest calling ccp all kinds of names and stating all the flaws with the game and that errupted into an all out slug fest with over 500 posts arguing with other players for over 4 days and Bam! he was banned! Now you been playing a lot longer than most of us, and you should know by now, that ccp and their loyal players will make you disappear. Shhhhhhhh sit back and smoke a little weed man, chill

1. Having a ship innsurance is no flaw. Personally I wish to broaden it to include T2 and T3 too. Fully. Just like it includes T1. 2. Log off exploits. How can logging off being an exploit..? Besides, how do you see the difference from a computer crash or a log off? I think its better left as it is. 3. Local channel is nice. I think we would have more problems without it. Besides it serves a function. To chat with people and see whos there. 4. Level 4 missions in Hi Sec. A good feature for those who dont want to stay in Deep Space. I dont see why this should be removed.
All it all, I think those four points are no-issues at all.
Soz.

Good riddance. EVE needs less forum whiners crying about how much CCP sucks while still subscribing.

I always find the level 4's in high sec complaint amusing. This wasn't an issue until all level 5's were removed from high sec and the carebears didn't follow the agents. So if ccp were to move all level 4's to low sec and everyone simply went to running level 3 missions, would you then feel level 3's in high sec are also destroying the game?
Sorry, I just don't share your view on this issue. The logoffski and local channel ones, I can see and understand those. However, I don't see CCP changing those issues any time soon. |
