So I was thinking.. how feasible is it to uber tank a hulk to survive a gank attempt? Shield extender rigs, the whole nine yards. Any gankers out there worried about not having enough DPS at hand? I think it would be much fun to ruin a gankers day.

Try fitting faction or officer shield extenders. Pirates only bring enough DPS to barely kill the hulk, so having that extra bit will let you live. __________________________

Actually, you can make a semi decent passive shield tank. BUT you will not be too efficient. And here is the key question: Do you think surviving one suicide attempt won't draw more towards you?
Ultimately, is it worth sweating bullets over it or just relax and go somewhere else and do something else?

I'm not sweating anything, neither of my accounts do mining anymore, but I still have two hulks sitting around going unused.... I am just thinking about the pirate tears and maybe a nice fraps/youtube compilation in the making.

Officer and deadspace mods. Really though just put on the most expensive stuff you can buy and t2 rigs. Also hull tank your hulk it works the best. Bulkheads with officer mods in the mids and sensor boosters so you can get on the killmails.

This is the fit I came up with... The Hulkageddon II Decoy; Passive tanked, 27k effective hit points, and almost 80% resists across the board.

Medium shield extenders plus damage control I.
Don't worry, I'm a professional. I've used this fitting before and survived. --

Three cap rechargers and a hull repper should do the trick nicely. Add an officer mod just to shine the gankers on as concord blows them up!
Hope that helps!

I had a fit very similar to that one. Make sure you overheat when someone locks you up and tries to gank you. Also have a salvage boat near by to harvest the enemy wrecks. Another bit of fun is to have an alt in a cheap cheap ship ready to warp to the belt and pod the pirate once they've lost their ship.

If the gankers are drunk enough they might mistake a Cyclone for a Hulk.

Needs Navy Invuls TBH.. Pumps the EHP up to 40K and your good for 4 mins, making sitting idle with them off (and looking AFK) the only option..

I heartily recommend fitting a faction shield tank. That would let you use the Ore strip miners and named mining upgrades as well for the best of all possible worlds. I recommend mining in Osmon with such a setup, it's a .7 and considering how quickly CONCORD shows up you'll have nothing to worry about.
And in summary, bigger blobs are the answer. Now what was the question? |

So let me get this right... You want to make a movie about some rich people losing 500k-1mil as they fail to kill you? Jeez! If im to live up to that, I should fraps pretty much everytime someone takes bait and gets killed in pvp, that would be several times daily... If you want video of people loosing at PvP please contact me.. I have literally hours of me getting blown up on various alts.. I think 5M per 1m of video should just about cover me costs...
It seems like whenever I try and record an epic fight (and remember to start recording) I get called primary....

I absolutely agree. Tell me what system you have your officer mods fitted in so we can test its tank. It's not like we never throw a thorax into our catalyst armadas.

they are never going to neut you while they try and gank.. they will never be able to clean your cap out before concord get them.

The movie he will make will be the display of the destruction of his ridiculously fitted hulk :) The thing is, it's A HULK! a ceptor catches it in belt? fine it may tank, but will be able to get away? no! so more pirates will come eventually, then he will be the one shedding tears :) so yeah do it :) fit it faction and officer and PLEASE OH PLEASE FRAPS IT and post the video here :)
With MOST EXPENSIVE officer mods, you can tank about 360-380 with passive shield setup which a neuting-cruiser will eventually kill you. You can tank it active with MOST EXPENSIVE stuff again and tank UP TO 1000DPS!!! [OMG PIRATE TEARS] but yeah, single neuting-cruiser will kill you again :)
On the other hand you can actually do something fun with your extra hulks without making yourself look st.pid.. fit them pvp fitted with tackle and kill the people trying to flip your can :)

I survived a gank in 0.5 with named T1 trash by having a high sec status. CONCORD respond MUCH faster; they only got off two or three volleys.
I've since ruined my sec status though.

once again a blatant display of ignorance...
Try and hold a hulk in the belt with your ceptor lol... WE ARE TALKING ABOUT HISEC HERE DUDE!
If the said hulk survives the initial attack, it can even take it's time and loot all the wrecks, CONCORD will be all over the belt, meaning no response-delay at the next attempt... and your interceptor will pop in a milisecond:P

I was actualy thinking about this (do bad i am no a miner and dont want to train for a hulk just for this :P) but whit this fit you get 38k hp that is almost 10k more than yours. only you cant fit anything in your hi slots cus you have no fitting left.
[Hulk, New Setup 1] Micro Auxiliary Power Core I Damage Control II
Medium Shield Extender II Medium Shield Extender II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II
[empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot]
Medium Core Defence Field Extender I Medium Core Defence Field Extender I
Now see how many trashers and catalysts will take to take this down

When you see a Hulk not mining you click the (i) button on your screen to look at the graphics on his ship and you count the strip miners. They look like little blue domes. If you don't see any, he doesn't have any and he's bait.
It doesn't need a ship scanner or a genius.
