When you plot a course to go somewhere it could be useful to know how long it would take to get to your destination whether planning on meeting up with someone or maybe your curious as to how long it would take to reach the exact opposite end of the universe. which is why i propose the idea of an ETA where around the route guidance it will tell you an estimated time of arrival in auto pilot. possibly even just tell you how long it would take if you warped to gate at zero manually every time you went to a gate. |

This depends on too many factors for it to be an accurate tool:
Ship agility: (which varies dramatically depending on your ship type, skills, and fittings). Ship warp Speed: Depends on ship and its rigs... System sizes.... And whether you are autopiloting (warp to 15) vs warping to zero...
I highly recommend you just estimate 1 min per system if your in a fast frig, 2 minutes if you're in an agile cruiser/BC, and 3 minutes if you're in a big slow (plated) ship. Then double those times when you use autopilot.

Load times are not consistent on all systems, so how can the server tell you something which depends on your client PC? |

Thats why its an estimated time of arrival. KInda like GPSs. They arent the most accurate but the ETA updates to be a little more accurate as you travel down the road. GPSs dont actually acount for stop lights but they still give an ETA that is somewhat accurate. Thats all i ask for. |

Gizznitt already gave you an estimate. Just look at the number of jumps you have to go and do a bit of quick math.
Seriously, no programatically generated estimate is going to be significantly more accurate than that due to the immense number of variables involved in a jump route. |

To me that sounds way more inaccurate what about your ship and if its slow or not my orca doesnt spend 1 min in each system
a shuttle and orca have different times to get to places.
ETA will tell you roughly the correct amount of time let the ETA do the math. i already spend too much time figuring things out on eve ccp can atleast help me correctly use my time by them giving me a tool to use on how to manage time a little better. |

If you're in an Orca, you'd be in a BIG SLOW SHIP... so expect 3 minutes per system.... and if you're autopiloting, double that.... so 6 minutes per system.... If the route tells you, 29 systems, then do 6x 29, or 6x30 and you end up with 180 minutes, or 3 hours...
For CCP to create an "accurate" eta calculator, there are many, many factors that need to be taken into account... I'd rather they not waste the time.... |
