Lets have a 'permissions tab' under our toon's employment history. I don't think our employment history should be open to the general public. Just like the certs tab, I would like to see 'private' and 'public' options. Ofc, if you are joining a corp or alliance, it should be made available for viewing by those accepting applications.
This option might also help encourage peeps to pvp more in general.

Why? The employment history is one of the only defenses we have against people that could be harmful to whatever you let them into. How would it encourage pvp? ___

Some noobs might be intimidated about pvping in lowsec, nullsec, highsec (wd and fw) systems with older players. It might even the playing field abit. Players in general will not know another toon's age and might actually comit to a planed action instead of jumping out of a system or playing the 'docking' game at a station. It's just an idea.

So you want to replace knowledge with ignorance? Sounds like a way to keep people OUT of lowsec more than it would lead them into it. ___

Edited by: Don Pellegrino on 11/01/2010 05:46:30 Corp history is like your real life body.
You can get really fat, old and ugly in no time if you do crazy and stupid things that don't benefit you in the long term.
Those that commit themselves to a corp, help it grow and/or just basically make a little 5 min research on a corp before joining to make sure that they will fit well in it are rewarded in the long term.
Thus, corp history tells people who you are. Are you ashamed of who you are in a video game?

Ashamed... no. On the contrary, I have a very good employment history. However, it seems that you enjoy kitty online and would rather live in carebear land. Why not have a challenge once in a while... something new for a change? keeping the employment record hidden from non corp/alliance members would be something new and challenging. Good luck why your narrowed views from carebear land.

In real life, I get to choose which of my previous jobs appear on my resume. Should be the same in EVE online.

But in real life you have some recourse to legal action if someone steals from your company, that does not hold in EVE. Comparisons with real life are not relevant. ------------------------------------------------ You either need a punch up the throat or a good shag.
Nobody round here is offering the second one therefore your choices are limited! |

Ofc he already just said corp apps would make it visible so there's no problem there. I think it's a good idea, adding more risk to that decision to engage and not giving that automatic "this will be very easy" message that a 6 month employment history does.
I mean who the **** flies around with their CV taped to the front of their ship anyways ? --------------------------------------------

Nope. a VERY bad idea!
Corp history with your character name is the very basic foundation someone can evaluate your character by. Take it away, and would make it very difficult if not impossible creating trust in this game.
