I use a trade tool called 'evetrader'. It is simple, colorful, and direct to the point. However i caught a snag that i can untagle from. The graph shows: profit [green line], investment [red line] and overall sales [blue/yellow bar].
I had to reistall the program- but now the overall sales no longer show. The profit and investment part still works [along with everything else].
Anyone have any ideas y?

Maybe since you had to reinstall it only takes into account the sales that occur during your "current" usage. Have you updated it with new numbers? I'm not too familiar with this tool =/

damn. I've got the same problem since today. Also the wallet balance(s) are incorrect now. I do see the 'daily sales' details when hovering with my mouse over the date but the graph isnt showing.
When i did a 'forced update' i got an error message stating the data was either to large or to small. But after a restart i dont get this message anymore.

I love this tool and am also getting the .net (type) error message about the data size. I have just been clicking continue (albeit a might annoying to have to keep doing this) and it seems to carry on regardless.
This is an unsupported application that seems to have a rather loyal fan club, it's a real shame as I imagine that one patch soon will kill it forever.
Is the source available? Is someone out there with the requirted skills likley to take ownership of this fine application? - I do hope so.

It sounds like EVE Trader experiences the same problems as did my EWA and EMMA. In the wallet journal, the internal ID (refID) exceeds the data range of signed long integers since last saturday. -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |

In the documentation, CCP lists the data type for refID as "number".
If 3rd party developers assumed "number" to mean Int32 and got burned by this assumption, why should CCP care?

Like stated, this problem only surfaced recently (since saturday). The tools mentioned worked perfectly fine before that.

So how about it Hel old bean, fancy adding some Eve Trader like functionality to your fine application. A nice simple dashboard automatically updating from the API showing simple buy, sell, profit figures for those performing simple station trading?
Go on, you know you wanna

They are ... somehow. In the past, CCP reseted the refID field (2-3 times, AFAIK), if it went close the limit. It seems that CCP themselves had to avoid that limit. Our (=3rd party developers) guess is that they changed their internal data type with one of the recent extensions (Dominion or Apocrypha).
As the API documentation was always sparse on details, it's not much of a surprise that this wasn't mentioned somewhere.
Re: dashboard: I don't know what EVE Trader does/did, as I have never used it. I have a lot of other tasks at hand (adding graphs, completing the manual, learning .NET and porting over), so I doubt I will look into this anytime soon. -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |

Ok, well you asked for it, here come the comments.
First of all thanks for taking this application under your wing, I know that IÆm not alone in making use of it and probably not the only one thinking that after every patch it may have seen its last. That seems far less likely now, thanks for that.
Ok, that said, as far as further development is concerned I obviously donÆt know if you intend to simply be a keep-alive caretaker or do you have plans to develop additional functionality?
I was going to post a nice list of things I would like to see it do but then reminded myself that one of the reasons that I like this application so much is that it doesnÆt actually do a lot, but what it does it does well and enjoys an excellent UI and overall presentation.
However, I do have two things that I will raise, get yaÆ view, you know...
1 û The data contained can become stale after a time; I believe itÆs comparing the purchase and sale prices for the entire data history? Of course over time this leads to inaccurate figures, look at the changes in Hulk prices this month for an extreme example.
Currently there are two ways to manage this, firstly by clearing out all the data and starting again or by marking transactions past a certain date to be ignored.
Can a facility be added to tell the app to ignore automatically transactions older than X..?
2 û Corporation Orders. The application ôsort ofö supports corporation orders currently in that it sees transactions placed by a specific character on behalf of a corp and presents the data in the two line graphs, the bar chart section however ignores these trades. Of course it also currently is completely unaware of any transactions placed by other characters in the corporation.
Can full support for corporation be implemented?
Cheers.
P.S û A modest donation is on the way to you for the tweaking you have done for this application so far, regardless of your intention, or not, to continue development, it is appreciated.

1) yes, good idea, I will put this in
2) already had this in mind, will be added soon™
I just have to make up my mind concerning GUI, querying corporation data is a trivial task.

You unpack it with your favourite archive program (I prefer Winrar for that task, http://rarlabs.com/), unpack it to a folder (can be the old EveTrader folder, just overwrite any present files, the preferences of EveTrader are saved someplace else) and run the EveTrader.exe.

0. Download and install Winrar 1. download and save the .rar from the link I posted to your harddisc 2. double click on the .rar file, winrar should open (if you installed it correctly) 3. click the button "unpack", choose a location for the files that will be unpacked 4. go to that location, double click EveTrader.exe 5. profit!

Indeed! sir, i salute you!
Under w7 evetrader is installed in a very unusual place, although through the taskbar is managed to locate the right directory.
Concerning the pricedata for profit p/u, isn't it possible to just take the average buy price over the selected 'period'. So, if you select a history of 7 days, the average buy-price is taken over those 7 days (if 14 days, then 14 days)?
It doesnt matter so much as long the total profit over the selected period is correct though.

Have you noted the nice changes to the reports? Seperate tabs removes the horrible lag when loading reports and tax included in charts also.
New life for this fine app - I'm a seriously chuffed podster

Your thanks should go to some guys over in the german forums (where I usually reside as a mod), who looked for somebody to take over development, and I basically did it because I need experience in working with somebody elses code. maybe I should write a changelog so you are aware of all changes.

rar is a proprietary format. Could you use zip, or even 7zip, in the future? Zip is handled by windows natively nowadays, so that is probably easiest for everyone.

I also realised this problem today, will be added to the tracker.
EveTrader saves its files to the Application Folder of your current user. This varies from windows version to version.
