I use a trade tool called 'evetrader'. It is simple, colorful, and direct to the point. However i caught a snag that i can untagle from. The graph shows: profit [green line], investment [red line] and overall sales [blue/yellow bar].
I had to reistall the program- but now the overall sales no longer show. The profit and investment part still works [along with everything else].
Anyone have any ideas y?

Maybe since you had to reinstall it only takes into account the sales that occur during your "current" usage. Have you updated it with new numbers? I'm not too familiar with this tool =/

damn. I've got the same problem since today. Also the wallet balance(s) are incorrect now. I do see the 'daily sales' details when hovering with my mouse over the date but the graph isnt showing.
When i did a 'forced update' i got an error message stating the data was either to large or to small. But after a restart i dont get this message anymore.

I love this tool and am also getting the .net (type) error message about the data size. I have just been clicking continue (albeit a might annoying to have to keep doing this) and it seems to carry on regardless.
This is an unsupported application that seems to have a rather loyal fan club, it's a real shame as I imagine that one patch soon will kill it forever.
Is the source available? Is someone out there with the requirted skills likley to take ownership of this fine application? - I do hope so.

It sounds like EVE Trader experiences the same problems as did my EWA and EMMA. In the wallet journal, the internal ID (refID) exceeds the data range of signed long integers since last saturday. -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |

In the documentation, CCP lists the data type for refID as "number".
If 3rd party developers assumed "number" to mean Int32 and got burned by this assumption, why should CCP care?

So how about it Hel old bean, fancy adding some Eve Trader like functionality to your fine application. A nice simple dashboard automatically updating from the API showing simple buy, sell, profit figures for those performing simple station trading?

They are ... somehow. In the past, CCP reseted the refID field (2-3 times, AFAIK), if it went close the limit. It seems that CCP themselves had to avoid that limit. Our (=3rd party developers) guess is that they changed their internal data type with one of the recent extensions (Dominion or Apocrypha).
As the API documentation was always sparse on details, it's not much of a surprise that this wasn't mentioned somewhere.
Re: dashboard: I don't know what EVE Trader does/did, as I have never used it. I have a lot of other tasks at hand (adding graphs, completing the manual, learning .NET and porting over), so I doubt I will look into this anytime soon. -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |

Ok, well you asked for it, here come the comments.
First of all thanks for taking this application under your wing, I know that IÆm not alone in making use of it and probably not the only one thinking that after every patch it may have seen its last. That seems far less likely now, thanks for that.
Ok, that said, as far as further development is concerned I obviously donÆt know if you intend to simply be a keep-alive caretaker or do you have plans to develop additional functionality?
I was going to post a nice list of things I would like to see it do but then reminded myself that one of the reasons that I like this application so much is that it doesnÆt actually do a lot, but what it does it does well and enjoys an excellent UI and overall presentation.
However, I do have two things that I will raise, get yaÆ view, you know...
1 û The data contained can become stale after a time; I believe itÆs comparing the purchase and sale prices for the entire data history? Of course over time this leads to inaccurate figures, look at the changes in Hulk prices this month for an extreme example.
Currently there are two ways to manage this, firstly by clearing out all the data and starting again or by marking transactions past a certain date to be ignored.
Can a facility be added to tell the app to ignore automatically transactions older than X..?
2 û Corporation Orders. The application ôsort ofö supports corporation orders currently in that it sees transactions placed by a specific character on behalf of a corp and presents the data in the two line graphs, the bar chart section however ignores these trades. Of course it also currently is completely unaware of any transactions placed by other characters in the corporation.
Can full support for corporation be implemented?
Cheers.
P.S û A modest donation is on the way to you for the tweaking you have done for this application so far, regardless of your intention, or not, to continue development, it is appreciated.

I just have to make up my mind concerning GUI, querying corporation data is a trivial task.

You unpack it with your favourite archive program (I prefer Winrar for that task, http://rarlabs.com/), unpack it to a folder (can be the old EveTrader folder, just overwrite any present files, the preferences of EveTrader are saved someplace else) and run the EveTrader.exe.

0. Download and install Winrar 1. download and save the .rar from the link I posted to your harddisc 2. double click on the .rar file, winrar should open (if you installed it correctly) 3. click the button "unpack", choose a location for the files that will be unpacked 4. go to that location, double click EveTrader.exe 5. profit!

Indeed! sir, i salute you!
Under w7 evetrader is installed in a very unusual place, although through the taskbar is managed to locate the right directory.
Concerning the pricedata for profit p/u, isn't it possible to just take the average buy price over the selected 'period'. So, if you select a history of 7 days, the average buy-price is taken over those 7 days (if 14 days, then 14 days)?
It doesnt matter so much as long the total profit over the selected period is correct though.

Originally by: Ras Blumin I think that's "Estimated time until order filled". No clue how well it actually works, never used the thing.
this is correct. The equation is: VolumeRemaining / (IssuedSince / (VolumeEntered - VolumeRemaining))
IssuedSince is in days.
the 1/1/0/1 thing is the following:
(EstimatedSoldAmount/Price) VolumeRemaining VolumeEntered marketOrder.VolumeMinimum
in this order.
The whole thing is a bit complicated, I might write a wiki article about it with the equations, but I have to get behind it first.

Guriko: I guess you are using the program with a character, that has either no liked by or disliked by standings? It is a problem with the standings parser. Some guy in the german forums is experiencing the same, I'll have to see how to fix it (I thought I had already).

little update: AverageBuyPrice already is calculated by only the last ten transactions. So if you have a lot of transactions, it shouldn't be a problem at the moment. Only problem it will produce if you have some, but over a longer timeframe.

Ok, that's not as bad as I figured for the most part but itÆ still not ideal.
If you trade something like ammo with a very high number of trades (station trade that is) your price history, averaged, could be less than an hour.
Alternatively if you traded Freighters or something odd like a Flycatcher (I donÆt think that many are sold are they?) the opposite would be the case, the last 10 could span weeks possibly.

Fema, I cannot say how much it matters that you have picked this application up. I have been using it for as long as it has beem out and since the 'INT52 overload' error it has been pretty frustrating. Let me know if ISK will support the development of this application.
For myself i am mostly into the daily profit thing as i keep track of 6 characters at tycoon level trading, and overview is not very easy anywhere BUT evetrader. Currently about 38mb of data file in Evetrader, so some of the All-time loopups take forever ;)
Feature request: In the daily sales amount, could you plot in an ALL TIME AVERAGE PROFIT line, so it is clear if you i am performing up to daily profit, under or over, you know like the current green line shows daily profit, it would be nice to have one in the background that shows all time daily average profit.
Otherwise I am really looking forward to you next release.

I thought it took the historical average buy price to calculate profit. And in that case yes if the market becomes more competitive it will show a too high profit.

Edited by: Femaref on 30/03/2010 19:20:05 wasn't necessary anymore, found and killed it already.
new download: http://code.google.com/p/evetradercs/downloads/detail?name=EveTrader_bin_300310_2113.rar
I had adjusted the whole api-fetch process so I could fetch corporation data, and missed the third category "Account" for the CharacterList because quite frankly, I didn't test the adding process again.
btw: good bugreport. the usual report is "doesn't work" ;)

Thanks to the help of Skh, I nailed the bug with a fresh install down - the xml was missing an information.
Workaround:
1) Open EveTrader, add an api-key and close the program 2) go to start->execute (or windows-key + R), type "%appdata%\EveTrader" 3) open the file "settings.xml" 4) you will find something like this:
Quote:
<?xml version="1.0"?> <EveTrader xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <Characters>
5) Add "<Version>1.2.4</Version>" between EveTrader and Characters, so it looks like this:
Quote:
<?xml version="1.0"?> <EveTrader xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <Version>1.2.4</Version> <Characters>
6) save the xml, reopen EveTrader.

After a couple of tries works beautifully. Setting up from scratch.
Trying to Restore... old trading information fails with:
"Unable to restore data Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
To bad as I have gathered important information since forever :(
Do you want to report it?

On the other hand, seems that I miss all information once i relaunch the application all character stored information is gone.
Wonder if I installed it correctly or not :(

Don't use the restore function, it is bugged. If you have old info, follow the work-around, except for the following:
Step 4: add <Version>1.2.3</Version>
and copy that file as "settings.xml" to "%appdata%\EveTrader".

Wonderful tool Eve Trader is, so grateful to Femaref for reviving support for it. See a recent changelog125 on the google code wiki, yay for more progress (& sqlite!).
In regards to 'full corp support' previously remarked upon here, as it stands if corp members purchase & sell items for the corp, the daily sales details is listing that activity mixed in with the CEO's & shows profit = sales amount, investment = 0 for those items; not as good as it could be, looking forward to corp trading activity being displayed separately from character, 'soon' :)

Well, the corporation support should only be limited to the Wallets/Market Orders/Wallet Transactions Tab, no real calculations are done currently. The reason for sqlite is quite simple - the current model is not very extendable and is like a house build on sand - prone to collapse at some future point; as a developer I have severe problems creating new features this way, and as much as I would like to just push out updates with new features, I need to rewrite the whole storage and background to actually get anywhere, which actually is a quite tedious work. I thank you for the support and patience with me and hope to deliver an update soon, but I can't promise it on a set date because there are other things that need to be taken care of.

I for one favour a patient and considered approach to future development, the charm of this app (for me) is that whilst it doesnÆt do a lot what it does it does without fuss and presents it in a nice clean and attractive format.
There are plenty of other apps that are stuffed full of features, and some all the worse as a result also. LetÆs not let this one go down that same road.

Not working in which way? Not showing any lines? This could be caused by not enough history data (every update the current balance get added as history item). This should be resolved after some updates, preferably with changing data so it is visible.

I'll do you a favor and relay some info Femaref posted in the german EVE forum as of October 26th:
He's still developing it. Two features are missing: account management and auto updater.
He's not satisfied with the data grid EVE Trader uses, as it locks up the complete app when working/updating on journals, for example. Also there are some glitches with graphs.
He thinks that after he's done account management, he'll publish a new version, while sorting out the rest of the stuff later.

Not sure what you mean by "not modal" but the problem right now is something he was parsing during the update changed after the patch. If by "not modal" you mean "multithreaded so the program doesn't lock up when updating", then he's waiting till he gets a new feature done to fix the crippling parsing error. Which then that's the answer to my question of whether he's waiting or going to release a quickfix.
