Nowhere did i ask for an awnser more to my liking. It's you and others jumping on me wich leads to my defensive replies.
Not that it matters anymore... As i have decided to not continue playing this game.
Good luck with your precious EVE.

It's impressive, ragequiting before he even played the game. I wonder if that's a record?
While I'm at it I blame McDonalds for everything including my cat getting fleas. Anyone who disagrees is clearly a capitalist pig exploiter and probably something else I'll make up later.

You fight the power, potentially mentally ill OP. Perhaps you're paying $2.33 for the better ping you guys get on your side of the ocean.

Originally by: Voxinian I look at the facts, and the fact is that i have to pay almost double compared to non europeans.
It seems your math skills have failed you. Others are paying USD 15 excluding VAT; you're paying EUR 15 including VAT. Let's set VAT at 20% for ease of calculation, and the USD at EUR 0.69 (according to omniscient Google). In that case you're paying the equivalent of 14.95 * .8 / 0.69 = 11.96 / 0.69 = 17.33 USD.
That's right, the difference is USD 2.33 at a VAT rate of 20%. With a VAT rate of 24.5%, the difference drops to USD 1.33. Tell me, which one of those two values is "almost double" USD 15?
Your math skills have obviously failed you, too. The correct calculation would have been: 14,95 / 1,2 / 0,69 = 12,46 / 0,69 = 18,06 USD

You're right of course. The correct value would be 3.06 then instead of 2.33.

Indeed. I would've added something like "My point stands" to the previous post but that might've been construed as me trying to deflect responsibility for the horrendously stupid mistake I made in the calculation.

I still dont get why some customers pays a different price than other customers. Charge the monthly fee in the same currency. Yeah sure I could buy GTC's but thats not the point here...

Probably it has something to do with the fee you have to pay for charging you bank account with a foreign currency.

And you are the forum troll here?
If questioning the price difference is mentally ill then consider me to be totally nuts.

I played for over a week. Long enough to get the idea about this game. I am not anti anything except for being an anti mindless consumer.
One impression about this game is very clear, its filled with trolls that have nothing better to do then bashing other people who dare to question the price difference.
And spare your further bash comments, I wont be reading it anymore.

Let's assume you have a full time job that pays you 20 units of currency per hour. Let's assume your place of employment provides voluntary overtime at a rate of 30 units of currency per hour. Let's assume your EVE subscription costs you 15 units per month of the same currency. Let's assume you have spent five hours researching currency exchange rates and camping these forums periodically.
Now, you are claiming, that your subscription fee is 1-2 units higher for you personally than it should be per month.
Let's say you play the game for two years or twenty four months. You are claiming you would be overcharged 48 units of currency in those two years.
You could have worked an extra five hours ONE DAY in a period of TWO YEARS and made 150 units of currency and had some leftover.
Who's the mindless consumer again? Whether you like it or not, you are at one point or another at the mercy of powers greater than yourself, and there will never be a time when you can win every battle. Make sure you make wiser choices in the future about how you spend your personal time, my friend.
Adults learn to pick and choose their battles and accept reality. Children perpetually complain about things they can never change.

1. Welcome to EVE.
2. Don't mind the trolls, you'll get used to them. EVE-O forum is no better than any other MMO forum, despite claiming to gave more "mature" player-base.
3. Price difference between US and Euro players sucks, but there is little you can do against it. CCP won't lower Euro subscription, because they are Euro company (as already mentioned). They probably won't raise US, because it could have have negative effect on number of subscribers. Especially in times of economic crisis... IMHO.
4. So basically, suck it up, sorry.

It should be about as effective as the in game incentives.

Not everyone has the means to buy in any currency and even if they did it's very expensive in some countries to do so. So they have to offer different currencies or lose customers.
As to the difference in price the reason for that is down to international currency value theory including risk management, direct and local local taxes, cost of exchange, relative value or 'buying power' and lots more. I could list a ton of reasons why its not the same although as I don't know CCP they would be guesses.
The Op decided to use the chip on his shoulder and blame some self imagined capitalist entity and then compounded it by not doing even basic research before making a moan post. So he deserved every troll he got especially as he then ignored all the valid replies. He was the Troll. If he had asked in a reasonable manner he would have got a different response, one day he may learn that.
The fact is the perceived price is what is relevant. This is compared to income, competition, the player demographic, supply and demand in a given country and a lot of other factors. Would you expect to pay the same price to travel in the US than EU?
The fact the prices are similar is theoretically a coincidence as there is no reason it should be. They can and should charge what they feel the local market will be willing to pay and the amount of subscribers they want.

You also have to consider that $15 a month is about the going rate for MMOs in the US. If they doubled the cost, so US players would no longer be paying 'half' what you do, they would loose a lot of players.
All that aside I'd put this thread in the bin with all of the 'why don't I get compensated for server downtime' whiners. You play by choice, you also by choice since eve permits you go pay with in game currency. If you don't like it, choose not to pay it. |
