I have very good gunnery and drone skills so either would work I think. What I am primarily looking for is one to do lvl 1-2 missions and that can easily goto doing lowsec tackling and harrasment.
I have little to no experiance with frig sized ships in pvp so please explain why one is better then the other, and if you have any fits that would be very helpfull to.
I was looking more at the enyo then the ishkur mainly because of its price and slot layout. Plus i would need Assault Ships 5 to get enough drone space for the 2 flights of lights or a flight of mediums.. so in terms of instant gratification the enyo looks nicer as well. I like the optimal range and tracking bonuses on the Enyo, makes me think that it would make a good blaster ship but please explain to me if im wrong.
Looking at you Liang

Edited by: Marko Riva on 13/01/2010 18:53:53 First of all the price difference should start to make you think, there's probably a reason why the Ishkur is a lot more expensive.
Personally I'm not a fan of the Ishkur for the simple reason that it's known to be good, so anyone you could win from will stay the hell away and you'll normally only get blobbed or seriously outgunned. Apart from that, to me, the combination of being a frig which has to get in/out fast and drones will probably mean a lot of T2 drone losses.
However, if you leave behind my obvious subjectivity the Ishkur is VERY good, much better than the Enyo but in the end both are frigs which have a limited role. It all depends on where/who you fight but if you want a pewpew ship forget about Gallente AF's and go for the Taranis. If you fight in high sec against bears who simply go "lal it's a frig" get the Ishkur.

thanks ill look into useing the ceptors, for the lowsec pvp they would probably be better i guess but i was also looking at which one would be better for lvl 1-2 missions so i can go back and forth.
*edit: now that I think about it, i can also use the jag and wolf... would one of those be better? wouldnt take very much time in terms of the guns either to get fit one properly i think though i dont really know what properly accually is on a wolf or jag. never fly minmatar.

Ishkur will eat L1s very quickly, and should be able to go through L2s as well (if you tank it enough). On another note, I also have an annoying sig.

Here is the Ishkur I plan to be running Plexes in in a couple weeks (Gal Frig 5 should be done first week of Feb with Small Blasters 5 soon after that) and trading the booster for a DED one as soon as I find one. I'm still not sure what to put in the last low slot ATM though, any thoughts would be handy:
[Ishkur, Explorer] Damage Control II [empty low slot] Magnetic Field Stabilizer I
Gistii B-Type 1MN Afterburner Small Shield Extender II Small Shield Booster II
Modal Light Neutron Particle Accelerator I, Antimatter Charge S Modal Light Neutron Particle Accelerator I, Antimatter Charge S Modal Light Neutron Particle Accelerator I, Antimatter Charge S Core Probe Launcher I, Core Scanner Probe I
[empty rig slot] [empty rig slot]

Trust me on this: spend the time to train Small Hybrid Turrets to V and pick up Small Blaster Specialization IV. It'll be worth the time spent. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

Edited by: Marie Hartinez on 14/01/2010 00:38:20 This is the fit I use for mission running. It'll handle up to L3's without much problems, though you may need to pay a bit more attention on some missions. As someone earlier said, take the time to got Small Blaster Spec to IV.
[Ishkur] Damage Control II Small Armor Repairer II EANM II
1MN Afterburner II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
Light Neutron Blaster II, Null S Light Neutron Blaster II, Null S Light Neutron Blaster II, Null S [empty high slot]

If anyone has a better idea for the mids, I'd like to hear suggestions.

AF 5 is ehhh...ishkur and jag, two of the nicest AFs, dont really require it. and you forgot the bandwith. ishkur only has 25, so you cant ever use 5 mediums. i made that mistake too. someone said the fit i use for pve. ions nos b-type ab 2x cap recharger dc eanm c type armor rep. for rigs its kind of hard to choose. i dont like the armor rigs for the speed penalty. ccc would be okay i guess, but i prefer targeting speed rigs because i use it as a tackler. disrupt and either web or sb, depending on if you think anyone will be in cruiser or smaller. id only bother with warriors if you think youll see some SBs or interceptors. i just do the 9 hobs. enyo is kind of lame compared to ishkur.

This for pve. Rigs are not necessary. T2 ammo is not necessary. Switch EANM to Explosive hardener if mission requires it. No need to train AF to V either, IV is enough and lower ranks are fine too, because you probably won't be losing that many drones.
Ishkur is teh bestest and can easily do most lvl 3 missions aswell (and with a bit of piloting it can do all quite well + some/most lvl 4's, but slooow). select a cruiser+ size hull and orbit + nos with AB on. Let the drones kill other targets, webbers first.
Ishkur is a great solo PvP ship too and a sturdy little tackler, from my limited PvP experience. You can find good fits that suite you from this forum.
Good luck! =) |
