So ive been playing eve; total, for less than 2 months. And now this Corp has declared war on our little corp, fine whatever. But we didn't declare war on them. But Concord will not help when they attack us (.6 space and higher) So my question is, are we just screwed? They attack us every day and we cant keep buying new ships. Any suggestions?

This is called a war declaration or "wardec". For a fee, they can avoid CONCORD intervention in highsec space when attacking your corp/alliance. The fee is paid in 7-day intervals, after which they must pay for another 7 days.
Basically, you have no recourse other than to A, avoid them, B, try to fight them, or C, hire mercs to protect you. ----------------------------------------------

Edited by: Serpents smile on 14/01/2010 08:21:43 Edited by: Serpents smile on 14/01/2010 08:20:50 Some random thoughts (fight/hide) I have you may want to consider:
- Set the corp that 'decced' you to red. - Put the members of that corp in your 'buddy' list, now you know when they are on or off line. - Get some info on what they fly (battleclinic. griefwatch). - Use alts to get more info on these guys, who are their friends, what is their base, what do they fly etc. When are they online, when not. - If you see these (red) guys in local, aboard what you are doing and dock up. - Wait, don't smack talk, just sit it out, they will get bored. - Don't go out alone. Always keep an eye on local. - Create an alt corp, move your members to that one, leave an alt behind if you like the corp name. - Get some friends who can help you out with fittings and ships, maybe even with remote repping. - Don't mine alone. Don't fly 44 jumps away and think they won't find you. They will. - Keep a low profile: don't smack, don't cry on the forums, any of this increases the 'pleasure' they get out of the war dec. - Fight back, use cheap frigates, use e-war. You might learn something. Don't be a sheep. The only thing you can lose are some pixels on a screen. - Have fun. Don't let others ruin your day.

Let's not forget there's always also an option D, leave the player corp (either temporarily or permanently).

True, if the corp isn't able to deal with a wardec (which doesn't necessarily mean going out and beating the other guys in combat, but it means being able to at least nominally function during this time) then it's likely not a great corp anyway.
Have a read over Friedrick Psitalon's guide to surviving wardecs. It's reasonably old now but the concepts are just as valid as they've ever been.
Really, in empire space you can make yourself essentially invulnerable if you're willing to fit and fly evasively. They'll only kill your ships if you repeatedly stumble into their camps (and would I be right to say they're all using battlecruisers and larger? If so they'll have an even harder time catching smaller stuff).
Learn how to move around. Fly smaller ships fit for agility that can get into warp quickly. Learn about and use insta-undocks at stations. Check Local to see if there are any wartargets about. Pay attention to neutral alts that are helping your enemies, and get your own involved as scouts/remote reps if you can. Don't put yourself in a position of being a target - think safety first.
Remember, if they're getting kills they'll continue the war. If they don't get any benefit (i.e. kills) from it, they'll probably let the wardec lapse and try it on someone else.

Your best bet to deal with the WarDec is to tell all of your corp members to stay in station. Bore them to death, and they won't renew the WarDec. Yes it sucks, but you can all set nice long skill training and not log in except every couple of days to check the skill queue.
Give them any thrill whatsoever (even if you escape their camp) and they will continue to pay the fee, if only to kill you one last time for pride's sake. -- Man With The Plan, Starbase Setter-Upper, Doesn't Like Bunnies |

Just figured I would note that 0.5 space is also highsec. It just doesn't look like it because it is yellow in the map, so some think its the beginning for lowsec. ____________________________________________ When going to a party with wine, women, and song. I am a noob, and the corporation I'm in is currently under a wardec, so I can understand your frustration.
However, the advice here echoes what I was given by my more experienced companions in the corporation - and it does help. Honestly, if you are alert, it isn't too tough to avoid the enemy.
My adivce is don't avoid them! I have used the war to practice various PVP skills. Yes, I've gotten the crap kicked out of me, but who cares? I have practiced and improved a lot of skills needed for successful pvp and am starting to figure a few things out. This will make me more useful to the corporation down the road. My other advice: Keep your insurance paid up as you will lose ships.

We had been planning as a corporation to move to Providence to experience 0.0 and what most of us felt would be the real game back in the fall of '08. The Friday we were going to pack our ships up and go, we had war declared on us by some Empire Griefers trying to extort 700mil ISK out of a rag tag group of a dozen or so rookies who maybe had 5-25mil ISK in their wallets at any given time.
So we gave them a few good fights, popped a few of their ships and pods, even though they mopped us up good every encounter, and then we went ahead with our plans.
They were so butt hurt that we went out to Providence and treated them more like a nuisance than a threat that they followed us and started tooling around in low and 0.0 and took pot shots at CVA.
It didn't last long *remembers all the fun smoldering fail griefer wrecks*

bummer... so you dont even give an opportunity to fight back. You'd rather leave EVE before trying it
I understand there are a lot of griefers that lolwardec noob corps, but your attitude is not good either
consider joining an alliance, the wardec cost for griefers will be a lot higher so they will just drop it. Unless they really hate you for personal reasons, then you should ask yourselves what you did wrong:
- smacktalking in local? - advertising yourserlves as friendly, mining corp? - taking resources from other corp? - canfliping or similars?

Thanks for all the responses. It dose give us hope that maybe we can still enjoy the game. We are looking for a bigger Corp right now. Our goal in Eve is to mostly explore wormholes and such. Not so much Pvp. And while PVP is inevitable, its just frustrating to be pod killed ever time we leave station.

We did fight back every time we were just out gunned. And now we have little isk to rebuild, since hey also destroyed our mining rigs.

Zensys - I know how overwhelming Eve can be... and the last thing your new Corporation needs is a WarDec from a bunch of griefers! You have someone in this forum topic offering a chat and hopefully this will lead to something better. You mentioned that all you want to do with your Corporation is Wormhole Exploration and I think Mining is your game aswell... Lots of Corporations/Alliances would love to integrate a smaller Corp like the one you are in into their own Alliance/Corp as your Corp will benefit ANY Alliance/Corp you will be able to merge with. Wormhole Exploration brings forth a lot of fantastic goodies an Alliance can use to make T3 ships from and other good stuff. You will enjoy the true riches of Eve if you choose to join a good Alliance where you can still keep your Corp the way it is and do the things you love...
But whatever you do - Do not give up! Keep on fighting and you will emerge stronger and wiser.
Good luck, man o/

Thanks for all the support. I really do enjoy Eve. I really like the sandbox experience. I really dont even mind PVP. Its just the griefing part that can get to you. I think that I will stick it out and try to find a corp that will take us in. Once again thanks for the help.

OP
There's some good information in this thread, but your planning shouod be based on the fact that byou *are* being griefed by trash.
If you fight, do it only because your Corp wants to (to learn, or maybe you hope to prevail in battle). You don't owe griefer trash a fight, civil communication, adherance to normal gamer standards.
IMO the best option for yong Corps being victimized by warDec griefers is to use it as an opportunity to get good at dodging.
Griefers become unhappy without someone to annoy. You beat them by removing their target. Two effective ways to avoid the trash:
* All Corp members get jumpClones via Estel Arador Corp Services a long way from you current base, and jump there any time your enemy turns up to annoy you. Repeat as needed.
Put your current Corp in the hands of your alts, make a new one, and transfer everyone and everything to that. You're safe for the time it takes for the to find you (can be short, but they are probably fools so it might take a while), plus one day for the new warDec to take effect.

Edited by: Dr Lebroi on 15/01/2010 14:35:59 Worth naming these guys as well, either here or crime and punishment. There are plenty of rich, powerful, bored combat units out there that will pulverise these guys for you just for fun and practice. The real bad guys like nothing more than stamping on noobs who are pretending to be bad guys.
