Hi,
I want to use an Absolution for PvE. *curse me later* It's all about the style, as I'm getting bored of doing it in a Tengu or Golem and want some space-chicken time. So two things are of no importance: a) I will do better in something else. I know. I am doing better in something else currently. b) Isk. Got them. It's gonna be a shiny toy that I want to get out occasionally on missions that work with it.
So. I was thinking about doing something like this: (carefull EFT whoring)
[Absolution, abbi] Damage Control II Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane Corpum A-Type Medium Armor Repairer Corpum A-Type Medium Armor Repairer Dark Blood Armor Kinetic Hardener Imperial Navy Heat Sink Imperial Navy Heat Sink
Domination 10MN Afterburner Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Armored Warfare Link - Passive Defense
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit II Medium Capacitor Control Circuit II
Hobgoblin II x5
That would be a fit completly composed of 'stuff I got lying around' except the Lasers, but they are cheap... Can you help me out optimizing it a bit? (no estamels or the like please - it's not supposed to be THAT shiny :P) Is there something I should change? I mostly run in groups of 3-5 peoples. So I'd use a warfare link thats slightly usefull and take on the role of 'hitting the small crud' the frigs and cruisers. I would probably also do some tanking in this, hence the use of them repairers.
Thanks guys. Fly 'as safe as eve gets and still is fun'.

You will likely discover that the range is a problem and you might well decide to use a Zealot (or even perhaps Legion) instead...
If not then you will likely need some TEIIs or a range rig or somehting...
Also if you are going to be used for frig bashing make sure you ir one of the BSs have a web or two.
Generally speaking a group of BSs in a mission (unless they are all Domis and or Rattlesnakes) have more than enough light drones so as not to need your assistance with frigs. If you are hell bent on using the Abso I think you d better fit it with beams or just use scortch all the time to add a bit of dps on primaries.
Without the range bonus of Zealot et all the tracking of Heavy Beam IIs is not designed for anti frig...
Arguably my opinions represent to an extent the opinions of my alliance and in particular circumstances give rise to a valid "casus belli" claim. |

Having most of the NPCs at an 20-30km orbit - even most battleships - it 'should' work ok using scortch (23+5) on pulses while having the option to do more, if someone else is tanking and I get to the targets well enough. And the beams get a 15+10 on Multifreq. So pulse damage is going to be ALOT higher on 25km. On the other hand you get beams out to 54+10 with Aurora... ****e dps, but should pick off anything small and gets aggro if things dont come closer by themselves... *thinks*
I do think of Damsel (that stupid git!) as a rather fun mission to try this solo and AE should be ok, too. Well at least if someone else is tanking the bonusroom.
As said: I know I'd be better of in something else. But I want to maximize a chicken! Wants chicken!
But tanks for the input.

Edited by: Durzel on 14/01/2010 16:08:49 I like your setup, it's somewhat similar to my WH Abso (albeit I use a MWD for closing range quicker).
That said, I don't use A-type reppers when they each cost 350M+ ISK. I'm a bit confused as to why you'd spend ~700M on two reppers, and have "just" a faction EANM & kinetic hardener?
C-type EANMs are "only" 130M-ish, you'd probably get more performance spreading that 700M isk around.
Also might be worth fitting a web, you'll have little chance of hitting frigates with HPL2s otherwise (I realise that's what your drones are for, but even so).

Edited by: Vherr Arkhar on 14/01/2010 17:08:50 A Web might actually be a good idea.
And about the fitting: as said, thats just stuff I have lying around from more Amarr intensive times of flying around.
I think I'll take a closer look at deadspace hardeners if they are that affordable.
Thanks for the hints. I am beginning to think, that except for the range issue (wich probably is mostly serp/guristas problem, wich arent really the missions for this ship anyways) the Absolution could actually perform rather well.
