Got about a billion isk to spend on a new toy. Looking for something with lasers for solo/small gang pew. Any suggestions?
Legion? Nightmare? Bhaalgorn? Pimped out Abba? Navy Geddon?
Billion isk has to cover fittings and rigs as well as ship, so what do you think gets the biggest bang for your buck?
Something like this...?
[Armageddon Navy Issue, Solo] Imperial Navy Heat Sink Imperial Navy Heat Sink Imperial Navy Heat Sink Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Damage Control II

Well seems like you have a tight budget, therefore I suggest go for legion as you can just switch subs and use it with different purpose when you get bored. I have a tengu, proteus and a loki and it's like have 5-6 different ships.
I have this setup for legion for the purposes you described:
[Legion, solo] Dark Blood Medium Armor Repairer Dark Blood Medium Armor Repairer Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane Imperial Navy Heat Sink Damage Control II
Republic Fleet 10MN MicroWarpdrive Domination Warp Disruptor Domination Stasis Webifier Imperial Navy Medium Capacitor Booster, Cap Booster 800
Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I Medium Nanobot Accelerator I
Legion Defensive - Nanobot Injector Legion Electronics - Dissolution Sequencer Legion Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir Legion Offensive - Liquid Crystal Magnifiers Legion Propulsion - Wake Limiter
Bhaalgorn: With 1b budget you cant get a bhaalgorn as the ship itself is over 1b.
Nightmare: That you can buy but can't pimp fit it, could be half pimp may be :)
Abaddon: Pimp it all you want, it's still a ship that everyone can buy :)
Navy geddon: Its a pretty good fit except get imperial eanm as well if you are fitting faction.
So basically either legion or navy geddon for your budget is ok, my preference would be legion for flexibility.

Edited by: Belaya Marena on 14/01/2010 14:15:01 Fair point on the Bhaalgorn, I've wanted to fly one for so long I may just sell some of my other ships to buy it and pimp it properly! I've never been able to decide whether to active or passive tank it either...
Legion fit looks nice, just hope I wouldn't be done in by any ship with a medium+ neut...
Edit: Added possible active Bhaalgorn fit...

For 1b? You can get decent fit on NM. NM 700mil, pith btype XL booster 200-300, btype amp another 200-300. Tho needs crystals to shine.

Why not just a bunch of armageddons? Take them out into 0.0. Wander around, get attacked by people. The blob will eat you alive but I can also guarentee a ton of overconfident hac and recon pilots that will utterly melt when a geddon starts firing at them. Just blowing one up makes you cost-effective. And there is a certain pleasure to be had in knowing that your ship was easily expendable and insured and the ship that just suicided on you was not.

This, really. I'm not exactly looking for cost-effective. Just a bit of interesting fun. With a bit of e-peen waving.

Bhaalgorn. You don't even have to think about it, seriously.

Seriously that thing got about the tank of a T2 fit Hyperion, does 40% of its damage, and got no GTFO ability (no speed, range, neut nor ecm drones) and can't kill anything fast either...Also risk being soloed by a single ganky frig (unlikely I admit its tank on cap recharge is very decent) and will definitely die to two Taranis.

Ehh. If you are turning to the forum for suggestions on what to fly you probably don't have the skills to be sitting in whatever the consensus of the day comes out to be.
Remember, swinging a 1 bil isk ship around as epeen may be satisfying but losing one is a big kick in the balls.
If you aren't familiar enough with EvE ships to say, "I've flown x, y, and z standard ships. I like strategy A. X has this advantage, and y has that advantage but I would really like to have the ability to do b. Thats why I've decided to drop a billion isk to purchase c. It handles like a cross between x and y on steroids." for yourself chances are you should avoid expensive liabilities.
And I never said anything about getting a battleship and sitting still with it. That makes you a target. Go to enemy space and kill ratters. Jump into the 0.0/lowsec gateway systems. Maybe use a scout alt but the whole point is if you want to **** away 1 bil isk you can get alot more out of it by taking crazy chances in a heavy t1 ship than 1 big lossmail waiting to happen.

listen to this. You can have five very nice fitted geddons to one super sweet dead ship. If you must fly a super expensive ship you better have falcons backing you up. |
