You wound me sir. It is corp policy for The Bastards to honour all ransoms, and any member who violates this policy is instantly kicked from the corp without question. I know of other fine lowsec pirate corps who have the same policy.
If this is true then I applaud you.
Aside from the obvious Ganking issue, what is the best way to address pilots in low sec? I'm assuming just "Be nice"

same with us.... that's possibly the only corp rule we have... and most lowsec pirates I know are very honourable when it comes to ransoming. Not honoring a ransom is detrimental to all pirates and reduces the chances of being payed.
@Zill: I have to agree whoever ransomed you for 1b wasn't thinking straight... the general rule of thumb is to ransom for 1/2 of the ship's value, otherwise there's no point paying

being nice usually gets better results than flamming "Join the Alliance, see the galaxy, meet interesting people... and kill them."

pirates are nice.
Siigari's connection while flying a PROTOUS is also very stable.

I see what you did there mate.
I find the majority of pirates to be friendly to newbies, simply because piracy is a bit of a dying profession and they want to recruit as many impressionable young whippersnackers as they can.

I would if i could remember it, however it might make some of the female members of C&P hunt me down and kill me if i did tell it, from what i generally remember about it. i'll ask him next time i'm on.. I don;t think it was that great of a joke anyway just something novel.. like the great pizza ransom kinda thing, only not as epic.

Yeah, you can offer ransom as well. Ransom works for both parties: it allows the defeated to keep his stuff, paying for it, and gives money to the pirate which will probably be bigger than the loot.
Quote: But, whatever. Frankly, this iks the central fact that separates pirates from gankers. Pirates understand that they need to encourage people to visit low sec by leaving them alone, up to a certain point.
Or let them go by. Gankers just want the kill, and since I have no fun in being ganked by old veterans who outsmart, outgun, outmaneuver, and outlive me... I just let them fight each other.
Originally by: Triple Entendre Of course, you feel kind of stupid when you pop it and there's nothing to be grabbed, but it's the chance you take when you're too lazy to slap a cargo scanner on.
Well, I keep hearing people wooing the indy people for not tanking a retriever (yeah...right) or flying AFK, here's your part of woe for not fitting a cargo scanner.

The problem with this is I'm noticing an increasing trend of acceptance to dishonoring ransoms which exacerbates the problem to a whole new other level. Even if a player offers a ransom there's still the increasing chance he's a ganker looking for his killboard prize. In my opinion the responsibility lies on the pirates to scold and hunt down the idiots that are ruining and giving the profession a crappy name. Until then they're just making it worse for everybody.
Grief a PVP'er. Run a mission today! |

Wholeheartedly agreed, as pointed out in another thread. The pirates should policy themselves - otherwise, they'll all have a bad name and their ransom requests will hardly be honoured.
