Yeah, but Google might also be closed and removed from China because of their decision to go against the government's Internet laws.

Realistically, they'd just blob us into oblivion tbh. From what i heard, they've got one huge alliance holding all of their server's 0.0, and something tells me that infiltrating it could prove kinda problematic

IIRC, they're using a completely different map from us. I could be mis-remembering that, though.

At the risk of sounding racist, hell no! No Chinese in Tranquility. Nothing against legitimate Chinese MMO players, but the vast majority of the spammers and isk farmers come from that country.
Letting Chinese players into Tranquility opens the floodgates of spammers and isk farmers into the game. You think they're bad now, you should see the Serenity server.

Plus it'll never happen. China has an iron curtain of censorship. No way will the government allow its citizens to speak and intermingle with people from the outside world.
flood gates? serenity only seems to have about 4k people at most at a time and im fairly sure that only a fraction of those are isk farmers so generally will not effect the TQ server too much.
it would be nice for the servers to merge, that way I can at least see my Chinese friends fly in the same server as me

It's still not a decision that CCP can make. It's up to the Chinese government so good luck with that. ___________________________________ "In the land of predators, the lion does not fear the jackal." -Dexter |

I know it's not CCP's decision, the Chinese government is slowly becoming more lenient with things so it's only a matter of time when things start to change, or at least I hope so.

as far as I know, all MMOs operating in China have to be partially owned by a chinese company. Hence the seperate server, they have a different ruleset and such. Thats why they can't merge it. :(

i dont see google lasting out on this one tbh
they are braking the laws of the country and well will be punished probably in some kind of banned or large financial way tbh
your reading into this to much i think , and i doubt it would work as well as you hope anyway
they ganged up to one massive alliance as well here we fight with each other so they would come in and kick the crap out of us.

First We'd have to come to an agreement of what name to form all alliances under one alliance. Then the server would have to add another eve universe to ours so that theres enough space. Then it would turn into an all out war between them and us. Would be an epic battle of epic proportions.
Would Be EPIC !.

Why would an ISK farmer play on the Chinese server? Who would they sell the ISK to? ISK/gold farmers tend to play on first world servers to sell to first world players. My guess is that, ironically, the % of farmers on the Chinese server is much lower than on Tranq.

It' a bit more complicated than that. Chinese farmers cannot connect directly as their government won't allow it. So they have to use another country (Taiwan from memory) and use proxies. Therefore only organised farming tends to go on in Western servers. The problem is farming and bots is far more culturally accepted by the developers and players in China itself as Aion showed, which will certainly clash with Western servers and players. Even if a high proportion of players do not like botting it only takes a few to ruin a server. Serenity is basically trashed and unplayable with only a few thousand bothered to even play it.
The other problem is that the Chinese Government is far ahead of Western Governments in getting to grips with the internet, mainly as laws do not take years to get thorough. So there is a continuous stream of restrictive practise laws coming through China which would seriously affect any of us Western players if there was a merger. In fact it would kill EVE off. CCP would not be allowed to own the game for a start so we would be stuck with Chinese laws.
As someone said the way it could work is by having server links as they have in WOW. That would mean if the Chinese side gets shut down it will not unduly affect the whole game. But this only really works if the game is instanced (for battlegrounds or whatever) it would be impossible to do for general play I suspect.
China itself considers online money to be a serious and valuable commodity and all it's laws reflect that, including protectionist policies.
It would be great if China could connect to us but right now it would be nuts to even consider it. A License is the best any company can do and even then that's been attacked in a recent law as Blizzard found out when it tried to get heavy handed.

I was in mainland China in the summer of 2008 and I could connect to TQ fine without doing anything fancy so technically they could all just play on TQ if they wanted (assuming nothing has changed since then but I am going again this Spring so I will be seeing if I can change skills) but if I recall correctly even with a very decent internet connection I didn't even dare to go out and mission because of the lag
