First time caller frequent listener uk based but sometimes have to venture into wales.... This seemed most appropriate subforum feel free to move it if it ain't. I've been playing about 4 months now. Gonna be playing via a mobile internet dongle on me laptop soon.
Questions. How much bandwidth does this game use on average? Reason being so I know the connection will handle it before I buy it and so I don't go over my monthly usage in a few hours.
Requirements. Will a 2.8ghz laptop with half gig of ram run it?
cheers.

I play via mobile broadband a lot, never been an issue, but then I don't have the experience of 300+ fleet combats to compare the traffic with...
So only a few MB of data at the most for a few hours of play (unless you sit in jita with all the spam)

Dunno about mobile connections, but read people complaining in chats about disconnects just because of their WLAN alot. If Chribba has mobile working reliable then I guess it works.
About the hardware requirements: 2.8 GHz should do well. The 512 MB RAM will be more walking like running. My primary concern would be however if you have a supported graphics device.

I use a 3 network mobile modem in my laptop and it's generally reliable. I got the 3.6 Mbps modem with the pay as you go package, but I bought a faster 7.2 mbps dongle on Ebay to put the sim card into that runs the EVE connection and Ventrilo quite easily.
I don't think the game takes up that much bandwidth in general over the course of a 30 day period, maybe a few hundred meg at the most. I usually get a 7 gig plan and that would last me if people didn't keep sending me YouTube links to watch ------------------------------------------------ You either need a punch up the throat or a good shag.
Nobody round here is offering the second one therefore your choices are limited! |

Bandwidth isn't a problem. You'll tend to get highish latency (250 ms or more higher than fibre) which increases the chance of session drops.
I've only ever used mobile (3G) from a laptop, whch gives me about 350 ms network latency. I rarely get the "socket closed" (session drop) problem - perhaps once or twice per month on average.
High latency makes you a lot more sensitive to certain game "features" though. It's a *lot* easier for specialized ships to podKill you if your reactions are 350 ms slower than theirs are.

I play completely on mobile broadband, 02 to be specific... generally i average about 30-40mg a day, that includes some missioning, quite a bit of travelling, couple chat channels open and hour or two in jita.
I have never had an issue with it, totally reliable ------------------------------------------ - To Jumanji, or not to Jumanji...... - |

That's the bullseye tattoo for me forehead finished then.
In other news, graphics card is up to it, got me dongle on 3 mobile payg with 3gb already on. Looking forwards to some long night shifts now.
