I have some things I want to do with API info but I have no coding experience but I can use/learn to use Excel. I just wanted to know if it is possible to make Excel pull API data at scheduled intervals. CCRES is recruiting pilots who want to live in WSpace/Wormholes. Fill out an application here! |

it depends what info you want to get
alot of the api calls are cached for 1 hour, you can't get new info for an hour
some are less some are 24 hours
in excel you would probably be better off making a button to pull new data

I would be using api calls that are cached for an hour. So if I had to do it every 61 min that would be okay, I just need it to be automated. CCRES is recruiting pilots who want to live in WSpace/Wormholes. Fill out an application here! |

1. See this post from Fubar. He explains how to import data into Excel.
2. Then google the OnTime funktion for VBA. It's a trigger, which can run every preset intervall.
3. Write a macro which joins 1 + 2

Edited by: Alaron deCarille on 31/01/2010 14:03:58 You just need the url's you'd call to make the api calls themselves and http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/wget.htm use it in conjunction with task scheduler
