some players sell all the meta 3&4 items they don't need and reprocess the rest. that's the simplest way to go.
i knew a player that kept a runing speadsheet of the mineral breakdown during reprocesing. if the value of the minerals was worth more than the going item's sell price then reprocess otherwise he would consider selling it. from what's left over the high end guns, missile launchers, speed enhancers, armor/shield mods, sensor boosters, webifiers, tracking computers, damage mods, +2 to +4 implants, ammo definetly goto market. the stuff left over check the order volume. if volume was low (like 30 or less) then reprocess. high volume stuff sell it. |

Use a tool like jEveAssets to determine, what is worth selling and what is going to be recyled. --

I'm still fairly new at the game, only about 2.1 million SP. That said...
Initially, before I started having enough money to make ends meet and repurchase lost BattleCruises, I would sell any item that netted more than 5000 isk. Anything that sold for less, I reprocessed. Now granted, this wasn't necessarily the best or most 100% cost effective model, but it was a fairly simple one to follow. I would try to sell an item and if the cost per unit was below 5000, I would cancel the sale and reprocess.
Later, as the reward for missions grew and I started finding more expensive loot, I changed the cutoff point to 10,000 isk. Also, but this point I was stockpiling things I found that I knew I may use later, such as weapons incase I lost a ship or the like. Also, any item with a price over 100,000, I would check the market and see how much I was losing by selling the item right away vs creating a sell order for the item. If the difference seemed enough, I started creating sell orders that would undercut the market enough to hopefully make my item more attractive, but would still net me more than if I would have just sold it right out.

If I'd get more money out of minerals from reprocessing than from selling the item, or if there are no buy orders for the item, I just reprocess it. Now, me, I move the items before reprocessing, because I find the junk loot takes up several times less space than the minerals you get from them. I get to where I'm going to sell the minerals, refine in the station, and then sell the minerals. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

I reprocess all but a very few high meta level items... the time it takes to sort them out is better spent taking another mission...

This. My current mission location is pretty far from any mission hub, so I just reprocess anything I wouldn't consider using on one of my own ships - so things like 1600 RT, Fleeting Webs, PWNAGE, etc all get saved. Everything else -> reprocessor -> Armageddons.
