Not seeking any hand-holding, only advice & guidance on where to start and then learn for myself.
Last evening some corp mates & I had some success with a few hacking sites in a w/h. Some of the items we recovered are very new to me. If I am correct, many of these items are Ancient Relics.
I suspect that these items might have a use in processes involving {for example} Reverse Engineering or Invention.
If anyone could advise me on where to locate the appropriate guides I would appreciate the assistance. This is one of those cases in which I don't even know how to better phrase the question....
Of particular interest:
Guides that explain what these items are
Guides that explain how these items are used
Many thanks. |

Edited by: XXSketchxx on 21/01/2010 18:13:32 Ancient relics are used for Reverse Engineering.
Take a look here.
Equation found here
Base chance is 20%/30%/40% and bpc runs are 3/10/20 for wrecked/malfunctioning/intact relics respectively.
You will need a POS and experimental laboratory to conduct reverse engineering. This can be done in high security space. Subsystem arrays (used to build from the bpcs) can also be used in high sec.

Many, many thanks xxSketchxx
These are exactly the types of starting points I was hoping to find!
Whenever we meet while walking in a station be assured the first three rounds of drinks (& shots of your choice) are on me.

Not exactly what you asked for, but I thought I'd give you a few notes from my experiences.
T2 - This is much more involved due to the market for T2 items, the variety of items and the complexity of making them. While T3 is similar, making T3 items are mostly the same in terms of materials and skills. To do well in T2 you really just need to find out what you want to make, and maximize it. A POS to do copies in is almost required.
T3 - T3 is very skill intensive but besides that, the cost of T3 items really relies on 2 things - Melted Nanoribbons, and Polymers. Polymers are from gas processing and can get you some decent savings if you process your own. However, to really make money in T3 production you need to have your own POS in a wormhole and do your own production of gas and modules. Plus you need to have either access to gas/combat/data/arch sites regularly (another wh connection) or a dedicated gang to do them. But in the end, T3 production doesn't seem to provide the profit margins similar to some T2 items (ships are pretty bad though), the market volume is far lower, and it takes far more time and money to do.
Those are just my experiences from working in Class 2 and 3 wormholes. Hope it helps.

Many thanks Zifrian!
I appreciate the time you've taken to provide this additional information. No question that there will be a considerable amount of additional study in my future.
As I had suspected (well, this IS Eve) there are many more layers to this particular manufacturing process. You've given me a very useful reminder to incorporate economic analysis as an integral part of my additional studies.
Many thanks. You're now another on the growing list of helpful persons for whom I'll be buying drinks when we're walking on stations.
Regards! |
