Well, of course the countless discussions about comfort imbalance between the beanbag and the armchair already gross me out now, but that'll all fade in the upcoming patch and the introduction of T2 sofas.

And please, save the 'EVE is dying' rants for some other thread.
Sound wise, pre-Apocrypha was the best, since then the overall sound experience has only been degraded.
Server performance/Lag wise, post-Apocrypha, pre-Dominion was the best.
Gameplay/Feature wise, we are still in the Golden age, imho.

If I have my expansions right, pre-RMR.
RMR introduced level 4 missions (and agents/lottery), resulting in an exodus from null sec. Prior to RMR, decent isk income required a null sec presence.
The null sec population has been much less diverse since RMR.

Before they nerfed speed, speed modules, speed implants. That also goes for Machariel and all other battleships.

The Golden Age of EVE is yet to come. Actually, there will be two golden ages coming.
The first when Incarna and Dust hit the servers. This will at least double the amount of players and give roleplay a meaning in game.
The second Golden Age will take place, when troopships will be introduced and EVE pilots can land on planets and moons, and settle there and exploit them.

Exactly two hundred times? Sir, my dedicated pixel counters at CI's Grand Exaggatorium and Falsificatery suggest that the typhoon has engine flames totalling merely 28.563 times that of a Rifter; as well, its bricky shape causes significant drag forces as it makes its way through the luminiferous aether. This should, in fact, lead to lower ship velocities for the Typhoon overall, which we see represented in-game. QED. _____________________ Horrors! Demons in the deep! |

Exodus.
No Capitals, 8 Ogres on a Thorax, average of 15K online during Sunday, most of 0.0 yet to be exploited fully...predictable lag.
Happy days.
Looking forward, I think once they sorted out just wtf they are going to be introducing with the advent of the Jovian race having an impact in terms of gameplay and space exploration etc, I think this will probably be the thing that pushes EVE over the 500K accounts.
That will be the new dawn.

When pirates, not pirates, still lived in low security and the game still felt like it was not half full of stark raving mad nematodes running around gnawing on everything in sight, i.e. griefers.

Ok.
The golden age of EVE will be the day when there is no difference between a PVE and a PVP fit.

For me the golden age was 2005-06, we had a good number of t2 ships in place, we had decent numbers but eve still felt realy big, it was before nanos ruled, fights werent just big blobs and ppl used to shoot each other in 0.0 just for the fun of it.
Cap ships were extremely rare in 05-06 and killing one actualy meant somthing, probing actualy required skill, nowadays you can be at someones spot before theyve even warped to it, almost killing snipe fits all together making the game more or less and rr close range blob.
Taking nanos from the came also took away another viable tactic making the game even less skill and more blob like, i understand some ships and fits were overpowered but that came at a very high price, 0.0 is just a big boring blob fest now and the lag is worse than ever and im not a fan of the new sov it still encourages blobbing which i was hoping ccp was trying to get away from.
i still hope that ccp will change the game round but im not gonna hold my breathe, small gang warfare has took some major nerfs lately and im not suere ccp will ever be able to bring it back, so for me the golden age has been and gone and will never return.

For general hooning about having a laff, probably red moon rising or sometime pre-carrier nerf in 2007.
For actual playable large-scale PVP it was right before Dominion.

I still like it, but I must say I liked it much more when low-sec space still meant "lower sec" and not "instant death".
That was before battleships, and more exactly before pimped out battleships became common. The gate turrets made it impossible for most ships to attack you, which meant that it was possible to travel. Nowadays the gate turrets are a joke, and people camp the gates with carriers...
