Can you elaborate a little on where in the normal process you are getting stuck? If you outline what you would normally do to start EVE and then explain where in that process things have gone awry it would make it easier for me to understand what might be wrong.
If anyone else is having similar issues I'd also appreciate them posting here with their experiences, feedback for Inferno 1.1 however belongs in this thread. Thank you all for posting here!
There should not be a client update published so there is most likely some connectivity issue that is preventing your clients from getting up to date information from the server. In any case I have made some modifications to the system that delivers these so please report if this issue is resolved now.
edit: please also try denying the update all together, just close the pop-up window instead of accepting. Check out my EVE Gate broadcast log for semi-regular updates on various EVE development: https://gate.eveonline.com/Profile/CCP%20Gangleri/StatusUpdates

That version is old, are you starting the client directly or via the launcher (big orange 'PLAY' button)? Check out my EVE Gate broadcast log for semi-regular updates on various EVE development: https://gate.eveonline.com/Profile/CCP%20Gangleri/StatusUpdates

Faz Kandy wrote:suprising, i only downloaded it 15 days ago, actually the orange play button doesnt come anymore, since a few days or so.
I had first downloaded this as the trial, then paid for the full licence, so after that I assumed I didn't need to redownload eve again.
You do not need to re-download but the launcher does need to update the client. Can you tell me what version of the launcher you have? It's displayed in the title bar of the launcher, at the moment the live deployed version of the launcher shows this in the title bar: "EVE Online Launcher v.1.32"
If you are not getting a play button to display in the launcher I find it likely that you are using a launcher that at some point updated to a test server version. Skippy McGee wrote:Dude that was a great find, i have been having problems and wondered where the launcher window has gone to. Start from finer instead of dock and it works :)
There should be no problem to start from the dock, can you remember when you added EVE to the dock and from where? Check out my EVE Gate broadcast log for semi-regular updates on various EVE development: https://gate.eveonline.com/Profile/CCP%20Gangleri/StatusUpdates

Skippy McGee wrote:It seems that every time there is a patch, if i start the client from the dock the launcher does not appear. I then have to use eve repair tool for the client to actually update. If i remove the client from the dock and start from spotlight the launcher appears and the client updates properly.
I added eve to the dock (fresh install) about 2 weeks ago, the first few updates this week have been fixed using the repair tool. My eve is saved in the applications folder...
Hope this helps :)
Can you try creating a new EVE icon on your dock (just drag the one from Applications to the dock) and see if it still does this, I've been trying to reproduce this on my machine without any luck. Gaia Ma'chello wrote:Hi CCP Gangleri,
A slightly different issue: I had a launcher get bugged somehow so it would not run, it would say "Unexpected error" almost immediately, not even showing the launcher. The repair tool would not fix it. I had to re-download.
Apparently the repair tool only fixes problems with the client, not the launcher. Could you add that functionality in? Even just a "download a new launcher" without all the repair checking would be good.
While the client was bugged, my clones would run. I could even make new clones and they would run. If you open the EVE package, under Contents\Resources\cache there should be a launcher...log file. Could you upload that file somewhere that I can see the contents?
I think it's a caching issue of some sort, but the log should clarify things. Software Engineer, Core Infrastructure, Team Special Circumstances |
