Maybe CCP could stop spending our subs on things like FanFest and buy some new database servers seing as the seem to fall over a mandatory twice a day. Its getting beyond a joke now.

And maybe people could stop making multiple threads whining about it every time it happens, why does every dipstick really think their thread is required or so absolutely unique.

What hardware do you suggest precisely?
Also, could you provide a quick presentation for us all, on just how much more performance and stability this new system will provide, with reference to the cost, and in comparison to other potential solutions, so that we can get to the bottom of this.
With your expertise and experience we'll soon have it sorted out.

If you would have bothered to read the threads CCP have made on other occasions, you would see that it's a problem with Microsoft's Database software.
You want them to get new Hardware...how's that going to fix Software issues, again?
Go make a coffee or something.

You think one could learn from other peoples mistakes and NOT use MS software for anything critical by now :/

So you think that money makes the code? Money debugs the code?
Programming a MMORPG of this scale is something else than hello world with Java or C++
As retired programmer/designer I can say that the most of the time on fixing things are spent on finding the problematic string of code, and fixing it takes like 5 seconds
Fanfest forever!

yeah, the world would be perfect being run by a group of people who can't decide on a focused direction to take and explain things in common language so the world can understand.

Dust, Xbox Live, probably a reason in there somewhere (among other reasons) why CCP are sticking with it.

Hi everyone.
I'm Valar, the senior virtual world database administrator for EVE Online.
I'd like apologize for the outage we earlier tonight. We had a hard crash in the SQL Server engine and our high availability system does not work in the case of this crash bug as the server does not fail over properly. This is the same issue as last Saturday and also the same issue as the Sunday the weekend before.
We are working with Microsoft on this problem. This issue is both at the highest priority level of their SQL Server and Windows product groups and it will be addressed as soon as they have a solution for us.
Note: To "fail over" is a technical term an operation on the type of SQL clustering we use, but that is called Failover clustering. (This is for those who think I'm confusing "fall over" and "fail over", I assure you that our server did not "fall over") ---- Senior Virtual World Database Administrator Operations department CCP Games
