I was really bored today so I warped to a POS at 100km, dropped a cargo container and hit orbit at current range.
After about 35km my ship started turning AROUND. How is that orbiting?

Haha, okay so here's what just happened.
I'm 93km away from the control tower. I dropped a can. I selected the control tower and "Orbit at this distance" and now I made this almost spiral that literally looks like this:

It's messed up, but now I have made a complete 360 turn and am now 12km above my container.

I have encountered this problem as well, had thrown a bunch of speed modules on my Machariel and then set it to orbit the station at maximum speed. Halfway through its orbit path, it did a backflip (as I referred to it). It was an interesting moment seeing a kilometer long warship traveling at over a kilometer per second do a flip while maintaining speed and course.
Would be great if it could do this when I was say .. aligning.
Nonetheless, this was consistent. It happened at the same point in the next orbit, and the next, until I got bored and docked. Not sure what causes this, but it doesn't seem to be that big a problem and is somewhat amusing.

oh, haha! I'm not talking about the ship doing cartwheels (I see that happen too).
But rather, the ship did an orbit that was around some invisible point in space ~93km away from the POS. It never actually went 360 degrees around the POS.

I notice this too, but only when my top speed changes, i.e., I turn off an AB or get webbed. Did you activate/deactivate any modules just before you turned around? __________ Might Makes Right! -Ragnar Redbeard
